Darling husband is dead against 4 x 4's - I'm not keen on MPVs unless someone can convince me they've got a corker!

Its mind boggling....go on, recommend something...............!

have a look at estates. we have a peugeot 307 estate (the 7 seat one) and can fit my 3 in (although mine are older!-i think i would disintegrate with 3 under 3 !!)

psychomum5 · 20/04/2009 16:22

flame has just bought a citroen picasso, and I have to say it is fab (alto obviously I am not the one driving it).

I said to my DH the other day that as and when our older two are not wanting to be out with us anymore, a picasso would suit us as you can fit three car seats in, and it feels as roomy as my MPV in the front.

S-Max, we had a Picasso, but have just bought the Ford because it was bigger. It is fantastic!

ramonaquimby · 21/04/2009 12:31

there are no fab cars when you have 3 children!

we have s-max as well, it does the trick, loads of room

Sidge · 21/04/2009 13:07

A Ford S-Max.

It's just fab. Seats three proper car seats across the middle row and has 2 more in the boot should you need them. If you don't have the 2 extra seats up the boot is ginormous.

Drives like a car and not an MPV, loads of oomph and very comfortable. I love our S-Max!

katz · 21/04/2009 13:21

we've just test driven a mercedes a class and you can get 3 carseats across the back and they're the same price as a ford focus.

midnightexpress · 21/04/2009 13:26

We have a Picasso, which is fine (I only have two children though), but we hired an S-Max last year to take our two plus the 2 grannies on holiday and it was GREAT! Loads of oomph, masses of space if no third rw of seats in and very comfortable.

blametheparents · 21/04/2009 13:33

We too have a Picasso. It is fine, though not fantastic. Lots of room, practical etc, but not much fun!

gingerwine · 21/04/2009 14:36

We now have a Honda FRV. I love it. I used to have a picasso which was great but I am now converted to my honda! It has loads of space inside, three proper seats in the back and also three proper seats in the front - the middle one folds down when not being used. It is a bit more pricey than the picasso though.

MollieO · 21/04/2009 14:39

MX5 and just take out one child at a time .

pooka · 21/04/2009 14:41

I was going to say FRV as well. Got mine in March and I love it. Is brilliant. Transported (easily) 5 adult friends and still had the boot space untouched.

Brill.

My brother has a Grand Picasso and it looks pretty good to me. Plus the roof moves back off the windscreen

Thanks everyone.....

hi

I have just bought a new car because i have 4 kids BUT i have to say the Renault Grand Scenic has been absolutely FAB - The car has done me proud for 4 and half years (7 seats which has became invaluable to getting extra kids in.) Each rear row seat is independent so one will fold leaving excellent space for prams and shoppinh. I had another baby 2 years ago so i often carried 4 kids and a Phil & Ted Double Buggy and shopping etc with no prob.

I had the Priviledge so a good spec. BUT at the time of buying it I had a 5, 3 and 0 yr olds and the best thing for me was that it has auto starting ie i could step out the front door put my keys in my bag and get the kids into the car, and just press a button for the car to start. When i went shopping there was no rummaging around for keys to open the car - just walked up to the car (keys in my bag|) kids in pushchairs and in arms and it automatically unlocked, opened the door and load and go!(no messing for keys in ignitions)

The thing that makes the Grand Scenic better than the Vauxhall and Galaxy is that the rear row seats have a gap - so kids can enter from the boot

I loved this car - I would say that my eldest child is now 10 and the rear row is too cramped for him for long journeys BUT as an occasional pick him and a mate up from footy - no prob

It's funny as I have just started a website as i have found really hard to find a decent review for large family cars - ie 4 kids. A Ford Galaxy is great for 4 / 5 small kids but when you have leggy big kids to get in - it isnt! and noone seems to understand this!

If you have a review of your car you could add then it may help others. www.AutoDomination.co.uk

Thanks libbypops - Yes, I need to get 3 kids and the Phil and Ted double and shopping etc.
Sounds good - What have you gone for now out of interest?
