Does anyone have any ideas as to how to make an Easter Egg hunt more exciting for older kids?? and how many eggs do you need to put out? Do they need to end up with the same number at the end? All suggestions welcome

How old are the children?

My 12yo nephew had a pefectly good egg hunt in out garden this afternoon. We usually make sure he has to hoist himself into a tree to get his booty but since he broke his toe on Thursday, we had to go easy on him today.

Before the children (12yo, 7yo, 2 x 6yo) went out to hunt, we explained to them that they would get 1 small Buttons egg, 1 mini tube of mini eggs, 1 pack of choc eggs and a novelty prize (character egg cup) each. Sounds a lot but it was the combo of its from my mum, my sis, my SIL and me. They could bring back whatever they found in the garden but it would be shared out once everything was found. They all seemed v happy with this. It took them about 15-20 mins to find everything - hidden in borders, clumps of grass/flowers. It helps that our garden is slightly overgrown/neglected!

Alternatively in the past I have done clues - either with slightly cryptic clues or with pictures.

Have fun.
