online ring sizer and where I should sell a diamong ring query

I have a diamond cluster ring, its about 70's I think, 3/4 carat & 18 carat gold. Anyway I need to sell it to raise some money for my animals & I dont actually feel very attached to it - it hasnt got sentimental value otherwise I wouldnt sell it.

Anyway I dont know what size it is. I know I can take it into a jewellers to get it sized but I was wondering if there was anything online where I can hold it up in front of a circle or something and it will tell me what size it is. Now I realise this could be very stupid as all screen sizes etc are different but just as you can view a word doc at 100% I was wondering if you could have a website like that too. Do you know of any?

Also where should I sell it? Ebay? MN? somewhere else entirely?

Ebay is by far your best bet. Make sure you get a good clear picture of the carat mark.

brilliant, thank you! I cant really see the carat mark - I mean I see it, its there, but I cant see what it says or anything. As I said the ring is old-ish I am just guessing at 70's. Also I had it repaired about 9 months ago as the band broke so there is some new gold in it.

Do you know for sure that it is 18ct rather than 9, 14 or 22? It would be worth getting it tested if you're unsure. While you're there you could get it weighed - no offence, but if it's an ugly ring somebody might consider buying it for scrap, so weight is important. The jeweller could probably give you a rough idea of the size and quality of the diamonds.

You know you can search completed listings under the advanced search options? That should give you a pretty good idea of what you can expect to get.
