Do your knickers always match your bra?

susanmt · 18/04/2003 00:51

DH, who I have been happily showing my knickers to for over 8 years now, announced this evening as I was getting ready to go out for his birthday 'your underwear doesn't match'. I had on a white bra (wearing thin white blouse, is hot) and black knicks (was being nice putting on lacy thongy things to keep him happy).
Turns out he thinks that women ALL wear matching underwear ALL of the time! He claims he had never noticed that I didn't!
Please tell me I am not the only woman in the world who wears underwear that is not matching!!

Nope. although I try to make it nearly match if I'm going to be showing it off. For example at the osteopath...

Alibubbles · 20/04/2003 16:11

bobbins, DD has just discovered that there is something wrong with the keyboard, that is keeps printing the same letters!!

Perhaps I'll try a hairdryer, but it might the wodge of chocolate that has gone down the crack!

The kids will probably have a go at me for having a drink next to the computer, something thay are not allowed to do for obvious reasons, although they are 15 and 16!

Pancake · 20/04/2003 18:24

I have to confess that I rarely match by knicks and bra's but given I'm about to return to work (ds2 is 7 months old) I'm going to burn all my horrid maternity stuff and start again so I may be inspired to be a bit more co-ordinated! It's going to be a fantastic bonfire !!!!

willow2 · 20/04/2003 22:02

Do they xxxx

griffy · 21/04/2003 00:06

I can't believe that anyone has matching underwear - mainly because the matching knicks are all nylon/scratchy lace as Rhiannon said. It's M&S cotton briefs for me - buy them 20 pairs at a time every few years. How's that for mean?

All I can say about thongs is - never.

SoupDragon · 21/04/2003 08:15

The trick is to buy plain white cotton bras to go with them...

I disagree. I have a couple of thongs which I have tried and tried with. I cannot feel comfortable in them. I am long in the crotch which doesn't help with trousers/knickers generally but even allowing for this, they are d*ed uncomfortable!

Go commando!

SamboM · 21/04/2003 20:37

NEVER! I have owned about 2 sets in my life and never worn them other than on my wedding day!!!

Tortington · 21/04/2003 23:56

nope - lets face it who is going to see it ( grumble grumble)

leander · 22/04/2003 00:23

sometimes not often though, only wear thongs now when i am going any where special, who cares if you have a vpl when you are in the supermarket?
Or am I just a slob?

Azure · 22/04/2003 08:56

I have black and white underwear and although I don't have proper matching sets (preferring M&S cotton over nylon / lace knickers), always have to wear the same colour bra and knickers. Even if I'm staying in. I would feel really uncomfortable if my knickers were a different colour. Strange but true.

Bozza · 22/04/2003 09:15

Yes matching sets nearly always. Yes thongs more and more. A lot of mine have been presents from DH or bought in sales and I do keep them a long time. I'm still wearing my wedding set which is coming up for its fifth anniversary - the lace is all snagged and the cream has become slightly grey. Also being 8/10 and 34B its easy for me to find underwear in sales etc. Latest acquisition form TKMaxx.

Furball · 22/04/2003 09:17

I feel it would be more of an appropriate question if it was, do you knickers match your slippers?

mum2toby · 22/04/2003 09:24

THe knickers and bras I wear are the first ones I come to in my drawer/ironing pile/clothes horse at 6am in the morning!!! I only ever coordinate when I'm going out and getting all dressed up!
Life is too short to worry about your underwear not matching!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do people REALLY get worked up about that???

StuartC · 22/04/2003 10:53

Er.... This isn't really my territory but....
For the earlier posters who complained about larger or uncommon sizes of bra being unavailable - a company was mentioned on the radio a couple of minutes ago.
Here is a link to their website.
One other thing was mentioned - the parcel labels carry the name of the company, to the sniggering of postmen everywhere (possibly they have a "plain wrapper choice" - I've not looked in that detail).

Bozza · 22/04/2003 12:29

wouldn't say I got worked up about it M2T. I find it fairly easy to go in my knicker and bra drawers and pull out the matching items - matching skirt and top is more of an issue because underwear finds its way through the laundry somewhat quicker than workwear due to skipping the ironing process.

The title of this thread was enough to make me go out and buy a new bra.

As I'm still breast feeding I was aghast to find I have decreased in size and came home with my nice new bra only to have DH say that it looked like a training bra!

At least I won't have that horrible fear of being run over wearing that 3 year old grey thing!

layla · 23/04/2003 15:30

Haven't read all this thread yet but definately don't match, just had to tell you about my favourite pants-THUNDERPANTS.They last for years and they're SO comfy and grab all the right bits underneath behind so no VPL.Check them out on www.thunderpants.co.nz.

mum2toby · 23/04/2003 15:41

I have only black bras and white bras..... however, I have knickers of MANY colours, shapes, sizes and styles!!!! Rarely they match!!

mammya · 23/04/2003 15:56

Check this out!
By the way, mine don't really match, just the colour.

Pancake · 23/04/2003 16:06

All maternity underwear now BURNED! It's a fantastic feeling and I am now the proud owner of 20 new pairs of pants and 5 new bra's ... !

quackers · 23/04/2003 16:07

Mum2Toby
