Will any shops be open tomorrow?

DS has just announced his plans to go into the town centre with mates tomorrow. I have said I reckon most shops, if not all, will be shut due to it being Easter Sunday.

Does anyone know anything different?

I'm not arsing around playing taxi and making 30 mile round trips for no reason!

What area are you in?

A few years ago I went into Birmingham city centre on Easter Sunday and EVERYWHERE was shut.

themoon66 · 11/04/2009 13:07

Lincoln. Small city.

I think all shops will definately be shut - think of it as being like Christmas Day.

Small hijack re restaurants though - are they likely to open?

Bluewater shopping centre in Kent is closed. If Bluewater is closed I expect almost everywhere will be. The supermarkets are closed too. I think it would a wasted trip to be honest. And cabs would be double if not triple time I would have thought.

Sunday trading

Pretty much all shops are obliged to close on Easter Sunday by law. Will be a wasted trip.

oooo bugger had forgotten about that - I'd better get into town this afternoon if I want to get my hedge trimmer (as in garden outside of the house - not that garden ) to use hadn't I,,,,,,,,,,,

Hassled - Most resturants will be open I think. I remember subway was last year, and that closes most sundays (at least, the one by me does).
As a teenager I worked at a pub that was VERY VERY busy on Easter Sunday

Only shops under a certain square footage are allowed to open, which is why most shops in town will be shut (not sure of the actual size - in fact, don't know it!).

Surely a lie in has got to be the way to go.

themoon66 · 11/04/2009 13:19

Thanks lovely MNers. I can have a lie in tomorrow now

3,000 square foot

what a nerd I am!!

BillSilverFoxBuchanan · 11/04/2009 13:45

I'm in Lincoln and can confirm that pretty much everywhere will be closed.

FruitynNutty · 11/04/2009 13:51

Well, most of London will be closed so imagine Lincoln will be dead!

MollieO · 11/04/2009 14:13

According to their advert Halfords are open tomorrow.

themoon66 · 11/04/2009 14:28

Thanks Billsilverfox.

DS just looks at my disbeliving and raises an eyebrow when I tell him all will be shut.

Bloody teenagers. When I want him to go shopping he won't shift of his arse!

Duh! Just realised you said playing taxi not paying for a taxi. [thick]

mumlove · 11/04/2009 19:23

Makro had a sign up saying they are open, so I am expecting it to be busy.
