Mum2Toby saying someone said she looked like Catherine Zeta-Jones on another thread has inspired me to start this thread. Has anyone ever told you you look like someone famous? If so, was it flattering or downright insulting?

I have been told I look like Cher, Anita Harris as that nurse in the Carry On film and even Julie Andrews........hmmmmmmmmm.

The funniest comparisons however, have come from the children in my family. My nephew once told me I looked like Mystic Meg (aaarrrgghhh) and my ds has compared me to Ann Widdecombe and Ronnie Corbett!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All I can say is, he's lucky he's so cute!!

10 years ago I looked like Jennie Garth (Kelly in Beverley Hills 90210).

When I was growing up I was told I looked just like Winnie Cooper - the girl in The Wonder Years.

Hey Nutjob..... on the other end of the scale when I was a thin student with long dark hair I was told I looked like a female version of Neil from the Young Ones!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've had quite a few compliments. Tiffany (Eastenders), a dark Alicia Silverstone (girl on the Clueless film). One I got from alot of people was Andrea Corr. All quite flattering. They've gone abit quiet simce having babies though so I dread to know what the next "You look like....." line will be. My dp gets told he looks like one of Westlife or a mechanic off Corrie years ago.

Oh I was told lots of times I looked like the one out of home and away that married Ben .Pippa's foster daughter can't remember her name either.Now I reckon it's more like Bella Emburg

My only claim to fame is a resemblance to Kim Basinger when she was in 9 and a half weeks!!!!!!

I used to have to go to fairly isolated parts of Indonesia for work and would often meet elderly CEO's. They didn't get to meet many western women and would often just stare at me in complete silence for ages and then repeat again and again how I looked like Renee Russo or Jodie Foster (I don't). It was seriously embarassing. Aside from that I am always being asked if I have a sister because I look so much like someone else - this happens all the time.

A cross between Ava Gardner and the late princess Di ? according to some people. According to (not so) dh, I have a striking resemblance to Postman Pat in profile (although, thankfully, I don't have his hair or glasses!).

I was told I looked like Cheryl Crow (sp?) once ... was very flattered at the time but recently saw her on some celeb program and really hope that I don't look like her anymore!

I have this wonderful glam picture of my mum in 1964 when she was 24 ... everyones says she looked just like Christine Keeler ... she is still proud of that and tells everyone ...

Ha - well as a student I was once mistaken for Selina Scott by an admittedly drunk old man on the tube - but my friends agreed with him and then called me Selina for ages !!!

My ex (we're talking 6th form days mind you) always said I looked like a cross between Madonna - in her Like a Virgin stage- and Cybill Shepherd (in Moonlighting phase). Someone I worked with more recently swore I was Alison Steadman's younger sister - definitely going downhill !!!

What I want to know is why no-one thinks dd looks like me - when all I can see is a reflection of my face when I look at hers !

When I was young and skinny, someone, just the once, said I looked like Twiggy. I still treasure the memory..totally untrue of course!

My sister always had people telling her she looked like Billie Piper, you know Chris Evans other half. Everyone says my mum looks like Susan Kennedy from Neighbours. Was really shocked when my ds went up to the tv screen one day and said "There's nanny". He can see it then.

My dd thinks her Gran looks like Edie McCreadie from Balamory. What was really funny is that my Dad watched it with dd, and when Edie came on he said 'she's a bit of all right ...' so dd must have got it pretty right!

Bunny2, I have also lived with the accusation of looking like Liza Minelli and all through my teens being told I looked like "Lucy out of Crossroads". I rarely watched it and when, out of curiosity, I did she was never in it! DH is a bit like Michael Palin and sometimes just as funny!
