Why do you have to wait 10 days between driving tests?

Had my driving test last week and the cantankerous old fart of an examiner failed me for hesitating at a filter light despite only getting 7 minor points. I wanted to take the bull by the horns and resit the test ASAP but have to wait 10 working days. Any idea why this is?

How odd - whenever I have done it there's been a wait of several months for another test date. The 10 day rule has been the least of my problems.

I suppose the logic behind it is that they are pretending no-one fails because of bad luck, only because they are not yet a good enough driver, and 10 days is supposed to give you time to improve?

No problem getting slots round here. you can usually get in within a couple of days if your not too fussy on times. They have just opened a large purpose built test centre round here, so maybe this is why its no problem to get a slot.

No Marlasinger, I just caused one car to wait a little longer at the lights. My instructer said most of the others would have passed me but the examiner I got is a cantankerous old sod!

Most likely because you clearly need to learn how to drive better.

Holding up traffic flow should only be a minor. Did you get more than one minor for hesitation? IIRC that turns it into a serious fault and a fail.

I think its because you are supposed to have time to improve. It's 10 working days though isn't it, so 14 real days. 2 weeks should give you time for some more lessons or whatever you need to improve. For me it was learning to calm down when someone strange was in the car with me.
