I was just wondering where everyone comes from - I'm sitting here in Croydon (South London) having a chat with someone in Australia (or wherever) - it's great!

So what's your home town/country?

Hi Sylvev, Kidderminster is such a depressing (and depressed) place. The only good thing - with regard to the smell + not the job situation - is that the suger beet plant is closing. The bad news is that they are trying to site an incinerator in its place! Stourport has changed a lot over the last few years, its improved massively. Bewdley always seems the same to me - lots of tourists and increased prices in summer, nice places for a quiet drink with friends in the winter. Oh and of course, lots of people moving into the area, buying houses along the river and then complaining when it floods (as it has done every year since I can remember!!)

You can look forward to pong free journeys to work fromnow on! Good luck.

Pamina

I have probably cooed at your little one if you ever go to Centre Court (what self respecting mum doesn't!!) in Wimbledon as I am feeling broody again and tend to do this with wee ones! Or possibly sttod near you in the queue in Hennes for kids where my daughter gets most of her clothes!

Alibubbles, I too went to the CCAT for a while, had a holiday job waitressing at the Whim and disco danced at Shades. Remember when Strawberry Fair was one stage outside the Fort St George. Ahh memories!

Alibubbles · 04/06/2001 14:28

Tigermoth, What did you do at the CCAT, I did french english and sociology. I used to hangout in the Batman too much according to my parents. When were you there? How old are you(sorry to be personal) we might have been there at the same time! Did you go the The Eagle, concerts at the Corn Exchange, The Tickle Arms, the Red Cow, the Grad Pad, oh the memories are all flooding back! It's really spooky, I met a chap at my employers 40th Birthday and it turned out I used to go out with him when at the CCAT 25 years ago. He's my employers husbands best friend, Whoops,my employer keeps trying to find out what we got up to, we are both staying fiercely loyal to each other and sayin nothing, keep them guessing!!

Tusky · 04/06/2001 21:57

I live in Brentford, Middx -

Caznay · 05/06/2001 10:42

Alibubbles and tigermoth - I also went to the CCAT! from 1986-89. God, hearing all those names gave me shivers!

Now living in beautiful sunny (but very Tory) Dorset.

Janh · 05/06/2001 10:51

tusky, i don't know if you have read the "is depression taken seriously enough?" thread but you are very near peaches - who is depressed and lonely - she lives in heston. maybe you could help cheer her up a bit?

Alibubbles · 05/06/2001 14:09

Caznay, you must be young!!I had my dughter in 1986 and my son in 1987. In fact my husband is from Cambridge too, he lived on Bentley Road and Fendon Road near Addenbrookes. I used to go out with the son of the owner of the Whim, infact I shared a house with him for a while!

Alibubbles, I did history at the CCAT in the late 70's. My tutors hung out in those garden sheds by the cemetary. Tutorials huddled knee-to-knee with my group.

I'm in my early 40's, so we were around at roughly the same time. I hovered round the canteen and library at the CCAT and the Baker's Arms nearby. Went to the Eagle a lot, too. As for the strange Tickle Arms, loved it (can still remember that German band music) but couldn't drive so was dependent on being taken there. Any boyfriend who accompanied me immediately hated it. Guess why!

Caznay, by the time you got there the CCAT and Cambridge itself definitely had more to offer students. I have watched the development of the CCAT and all that new student accommodation on East road with some envy.

Alibubbles, as for your ex-CCAT-boyfriend, if he did a history or humanities degree in the late 70's, I might well know him. Spooky.....

Zoella · 08/07/2001 20:20

HELLO FROM SUNNY TORQUAY IN DEVON, ARE THERE ANY OTHER MUMS CLOSE BY ?

Mel · 20/07/2001 20:05

I'm in Hampshire, also, not so sunny or hot! Perhaps we should all upstakes to somewhere nice and hot!!!!! Still, I do love our beach when it's windy and rough!

Emsiewill · 20/07/2001 21:25

Hello from Newport - that's the one in S. Wales, not the Isle of Wight, Shropshire, etc....
Star & Bron, I bet you've never visited "lovely" Newport, have you - I used to work for the Western Mail, and was amazed at the number of my colleagues who hadn't been here, and spoke of it like it was 50 miles away, not 12. Still, I suppose when you live in Cardiff, there's no real reason to come here. Have either of you heard about the new multiplex opening in the centre of Cardiff? I've heard it's fantastic, although some may accuse me of bias - my dh is the manager

Rhiannon · 21/07/2001 05:45

Hello from Sunny Los Gatos, California. Sorry couldn't help looking in!! I think I need therapy - Rhiannon.

Joe · 21/07/2001 06:46

Mel, whereabouts in Hampshire are you?? You must be long the south coast by the stoney beach. I live in Hampshire (you dont have to give exact place if you dont want to)

Joe · 21/07/2001 06:49

And Rhiannon how jamy are you, hope you are having fun.

Alih · 21/07/2001 09:36

Hi Star - I can't imagine why you would come to Newport from Cardiff to shop - still takes all sorts! Yes, lovely weather today, we went to the Children's festival at Cardiff Castle - well worth a visit, although I'm not quite sure what (if any) the theme was.
The cinema is the one behind Toys 'R' us - Prince Charles is going there tomorrow, so if you watch the local news after the 10 o'clock news tomorrow, you may see my dh escorting him into the cinema. (He'll be the one looking extremely nervous!)
