Ok - skip being depressed about how skinny you used to be (weren't we all?!)

He can talk about clothes, toys, cars (if you can find pictures where you can compare the two). Holidays? Maybe as a child you had holidays in the UK and he has gone abroad?

Similarities? Birthdays? Christmas? I'm thinking of our pictures and we have ones of me as a child, in front of a Christmas tree, holding up a present and grinning - and we have almost identical ones of the ds's.

Will try and think of something else but that's off the top of my head.

What about the difference in entertainment, games or TV. DS(5) was asking questions about what we used to watch on TV when we were children. When I told him we only had 3 channels, he seemed amazed. "Why? Why didn't you see CBeebies or FoxKids (not that I let him see that either!) or Boomerang?
The lack of computerised games/PC's/video's/DVDs..
I can remember the first video recorder my parents had, a huge thing with a pop up slot!

Sorry, I am on a trip down memory lane here!!

Gobbledigook · 17/04/2005 21:14

Could focus on technology as others have hinted - no mobiles, videos were top loading and the 'remote' was on a lead, no CDs or DVDs, no Sky TV/digital TV...

happymerryberries · 17/04/2005 21:14

being able to play outside?
No breakfast TV!

milward · 17/04/2005 21:15

Now - dvds & videos, playstation, computers, internet......
1970s - I had a ZX81 computer with 74K memory!!!

andy pany etc

tiddlypom · 17/04/2005 22:17

Don't suppose you've got any of your old children's books? (I've still got all my Sunday School Prizes for good attendance !!) Could you talk about which characters have survived the test of time, eg Noddy, Clangers, Rupert the Bear? He could just take in a modern day Noddy book, but say Noddy was also a favourite of yours for example.
