Kids and politics

With election fever about to hit us, I was wondering what you all think about the political parties using kids - remember Jennifer's ear last time? Would you let a politician near your baby? (even if you supported his party). Don't think I would...

I am very anti-politicians but my two girls (6 and 4) think Tony Blair is wonderful for reasons that I cannot begin to work out(I can't stand him!). if he's on the news they always stop what they're doing to watch him and they were very excited to see him on the rugby a few weeks ago. the six year old misheard the commentator, thinking he said "and here is the right horrible Tony Blair"!!
I wouldn't want him kissing them, but suspect they'd love it!

....and of course Mr Blair today chose to announce the election at a school. (Although apparently some people linked to the school were upset about it afterwards. didn't like the idea of being used.)
Do you remember Tysons visit to UK recently when he kissed a british baby. Someone asked me then what I'd do if he's reached out for one of mine.
I'd like to think I wouldn't let them be used in a cynical bid for publicity by anyone (let alone a convicted rapist) but I suppose sometimes the mums just get caught up in the moment.

Candy, even if it was a mistake your oldest daughter was right!! But he's not as bad as the "even more horrible Hague"

Politicians should be banned from going near children especially my local MP who is soooo slimy.
Those poor school kids yesterday must have been really bored, I would think much more of Tony if he had given a speech to them that they would understand. Perhaps about the imporance of the right to vote etc.
NO matter how horrible the politicians I believe we must use our votes. Comments?
