my baby has just started crawling she dosen't have a dummy and puts everything in her mouth. My head is spinning I have two other children 6 and 5 who are constantly leaving lego ,beyblades you name it all over the place I can,t be everywhere at once and am constantly chasing a baby around and nagging older ones .The boys are close in age so this wasn't a problem with them at crawling stage.Do I make sure they only play upstairs with their toys (which I don't think is fair, keep nagging, can't keep baby in one room not fair to her.Any suggestions it drives me nuts

What about having them play with the smaller sized toys in their rooms and allowing them the larger toys downstairs?

My oldest was 4 when No 3 was born, so obviously had "fiddly" toys by the time No 3 was crawling, so the deal was that she kept all the small fiddly stuff (Polly Pocket - nightmare!, Barbie, Lego etc) upstairs in the her bedroom and played with it in there.

Anything else was kept downstairs in the playroom where they could all play together.

Yes you have to do that too sb34, but it wouldn't do any harm to try and keep the small toys to a minimum while they do learn. My oldest 3 leave their toys in the strangest of places, and although number 4 seems to have learned not to put things in his mouth without checking with me first, I still try and keep the tiniest bits and bobs out of his reach. And drum it into the others to be aware too.

Back to the playpen again. I have a playpen for ds2 where I know he's safe if I need to have a shower/get on with stuff. All the toys in there are suitable. Then when I'm around (which is most of the time) he can crawl around amongst everythihg.
