Is there such a thing as a luxury, economical, fairly small car? time to get rid of my big, luxury heap. but I have no idea where to start. Suggestions?

I recommend a Citroen Xsara Picasso !

LittleWonder · 06/03/2009 11:43

But that's not luxury or fairly small...

Or particularly economical.

But it is definitely a car.

bruxeur · 06/03/2009 11:45

Merc A or B-class? The diesels aren't bad iirc for economy.

LittleWonder · 06/03/2009 11:45

Well, at least I know what I don't want

I will check out the Merc. I am sure there must be a big gap in the market. I have been looking for a much smaller car - still to fit 5 plus dog, but not a massive thing. but I don't want to compromise on the things I like... so far I have found that small means having no leather seats and even electric windows seem like a luxury...

i think luxury tends to equal big

what exactly do you mean by luxury?

we have a ford smax titanium diesel which is an excellent familly car and i find it way more luxurious than the crappy zafira we had before but it is not small. Maybe a Ford c max titanium?

Is it just for you or do you need to fit kids in? if you do then small is not really an option imo in less they are older

bruxeur · 06/03/2009 11:49

5 + dog = small?

lollity.

What do you have atm, LW?

LittleWonder · 06/03/2009 11:52

Well, small compared to what I have - an 8 seater Land Cruiser. It has been fantastic and is really a joy to be in. but it's cheaper to fly than drive it a distance. I have two teens, so I need room, and there's usually a friend or two in tow. the dog is small though...I really need to get rid of the big car, but what do I get?

two of the people are optional. I keep hearing that it is a buyer's market. Which is the best make to go for? I feel so ignorant in this whole land of cars, the sales team will see me coming...

well,it's luxury to me actually !

bruxeur · 06/03/2009 12:21

A broken-down bicycle would be "luxury" to most people in, say, Somalia - but it doesn't really fit the definition of what what most people would think of as "luxury".

For that matter, neither would a Land Cruiser.
