Just thought I drop a few lines on the rare occasion I have time to!

Just wondering what percentage of contributors/readers are single parents and working and by single I mean "single" no help from partner.

Also, looking at the Top 10 holidays, there's nothing that caters for "real single parents" - earning below the £30,000 mark. I would really like to take my daughter (2) somewhere sunny this year (if finances allow it). Algarve has been recommended - any comments.

Haven't dated for 2 years, had nooky with an ex, but keeping my distance. Met a gorgeous guy the other day - could have been the CSI guy's twin (black guy with dreamy eyes)but he's separated and an obvious cassanova!

Strange how life turns out, very happy as a mommy though. Past life - party girl. Just wondering if I'll meet the one and get married. Sometimes wish I could stop thinking/analysing life and people.

Hi Kittycat

I am also a single mum with a daughter of 2. I have been single all along and I have no family.

What I did last year was get a cheap flight with Ryannair to Sardinia and then I booked accommodation separately. I joned a single parent travel club and hooked up with another single parent so we shared the accommodation cost.

This year I am going to Majorca on 27 May for 2 weeks. I collected the tokens out of the mirror so the flights were £44 for both of us. You just paid tax. Then I went on the internet and booked into the Los Mirlos/Tordos in Palma Nova. I picked this hotel as it has a zone 4 club and caters for 2 year olds so it has a creche which operates 6 days per week. I think you have to find holidays independently as if you go through a tour operator then they want to charge you full adult price for your toddler and often a under occupancy supp on top.

Hope this helps.

kittycat - I'm a working single parent with no help from the father (except very paltry token amount each month). For last 10 months I have had a boyfriend but spent previous 5 years single (well, apart from the odd, you know!). I certainly have an income well below 30k but have managed 3 holidays with just my daughter.

Agree with chloemummy, have booked very cheap flights and sorted out accommodation over the internet. Because there will be just the 2 of you, you can book one bedroom cottages pretty cheaply. Never been to the Algarve, have just done summer holidays in France, which is usually warm enough. Flying is much cheaper if just the 2 of you rather than taking a car on the boat. Good luck, you can do it and it is very rewarding (if a little stressful) planing it all by yourself and not needing to consult anyone else.
Remember, you need a holiday.
