MODELLING AGENCY CONTACTED DSD (12) DIRECTLY. IS THIS NORMAL?

Just wondering if anyone can help at all. DSD (12) with the knowledge, but not help or particularly guidance of her mother, has contacted some modelling agenciey including one called 'The Promotional People'.

DP and I have just found out about this and that she's sent them some pictures and they've been emailing her. I did a search on this agency and they do seem to be legimitate but I'm very concerned that they're contacting her directly knowing her age.

We are going to try to put a stop to the whole thing if possible but I really would appreciate some help from anyone who has any knowledge of this agency or modelling in general.

Many thanks in advance.

My daughter models, she's a lot younger but I haven't heard of this agency and would agree with you that no agency should be directly contacting any child under the age of 16. I would expect that a legitimate agency would only ever contact the parent, indeed all legitimate agencies only contact the parent with regard to anything. I would definitely contact the agency themselves and request that they don't contact her again, and ensure that she doesn't send photos to any agency herself, let you check them out first.
There's also an agency regulatory body called alba, I'd also report this agency to them.
Hope it all works out

Thanks mummyeme, this is useful. There really seems to be a lot of bogus or very bad agencies about. It's all a bit too late to stop her sending photos herself I'm afraid. It's just about picking up the pieces now.

Will definatly get in contact with alba.
