How many threads is this now?

OP posts:

Morning...so I went back to work on Monday evening, did two lessons last night, had a little walk around the allotment yesterday afternoon, went to the Dr in the morning and...my back went at 1am...how does it do that? I managed to get back to sleep but at 4am it was intolerable so dh got me an ice pack and painkillers and I managed to get back to sleep.
I tried to get up this morning but was screaming with pain. Dh is really busy at work. He went to get my Dad who took the kids to school in my car (his no mot) and he is coming back at 12 to get dd. I cancelled work this morning again.
Thing is....shhhh... since lying here with an ice pack for 3 hours it's really not that bad again...not sure what's going on but don't like to let on because I've caused so much fuss! I probably ought to rest anyway.
Anyway...guess what I got dh to get me from the bookshelf before he left...yes a big...fat...crisp...unread Breaking Dawn...my last virgin Edwardfest.

Berrie · 25/03/2009 10:03

And Oggs...I really can't believe you'll find a copy just sitting on the shelf unread.

oggspocket · 25/03/2009 10:08

Poor Berrie. Have a lovely restful read.

I started Order of the Phoenix last night in an attempt to get to Deathly Hallows asap. Had forgotten what a monster of a book it is. Managed 100 pages last night. Will plough on tonight.

Wish I could knit and read at the same time .
Shame the audiobooks are so expensive - knitting and listening would be brilliant.

Berrie · 25/03/2009 10:15

Thanks, will do. I think the worst thing is how stressed DH gets. Oh yes and not earning money I've already spent. Am expecting a couple of parcels today...better get dressed actually.

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 25/03/2009 12:43

Exciting parcels?

Berrie · 25/03/2009 12:53

Yes.
One is two new tops and a free handbag (an introductory offer that suckered me in)and a £3.80 scooter from Littlewoods I saw on a thread here. The scooter has come but not my stuff
My Dad has delivered dd back and is coming back to get ds at 3.15. Dh will stay later at work to make up his hours which gives me plenty of time to hide my goodies if they ever come!

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 25/03/2009 13:21

What else are you up to? Reading books, knitting, watching dvds?

Berrie · 25/03/2009 13:30

I wish...dd is here throwing bits of the flying froggles game everywhere. We have played talky dinosaur, read cinderella, goldilocks and red riding hood. I will put cbeebies on as a last resort.

Looking forward to packing tomorrow?

oggspocket · 25/03/2009 13:31

Bored Zeb?

Berrie · 25/03/2009 13:52

Booooooo parcel came... one of the tops is the wrong one and the other just isn't nice enough for the money which means I have to send back the free bag!

Catalogue parcels are always soooo disapointing!

oggspocket · 25/03/2009 14:01

I've just rec'd a parcel the size of a pillow...

...it's a bag full of yarn bits and bobs that my mum bought for me from a jumble sale type sale...

... there's loads!

Will have to go and look properly.

Berrie · 25/03/2009 14:10

Sounds like fun!

Shall I order a memory foam topper?

oggspocket · 25/03/2009 16:15

What's a memory foam topper?

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 25/03/2009 16:38

I want a memory foam topper. Yes, buy one!!! They are REALLY comfortable and lovely. I slept on one at my posh hotel the other week

Basically Oggs, you put them over the mattress on your bed and it contains memory foam so molds to your bod as you sleep. Fabulous.

Berrie · 25/03/2009 17:04

Mmm... my friend bought one but after a while they got fed up of it and they took it off... I think it can get a bit sweaty and fitted sheets don't fit.

EdwardCullensWife · 25/03/2009 18:19

I wanted one of those scooters but they only had pink left.

Berrie · 26/03/2009 12:56

Hello!
Seriously pissed poff about back now. Rang Doctor again this morning and he has written me another prescription. Have ordered a memory foam topper. Dh has just popped home and got us lunch. Kids have swimming tonight...not sure I can manage.

@?~*&@%

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 26/03/2009 13:30

Berrie.

oggspocket · 26/03/2009 14:58

Oh Berrie

Dd is in the school play next week and came home with a list of requirements;
smart dark skirt (she doesn't have a skirt)
dark tights (she doesn't have any... can never get them to fit as her legs are too long and her waist too small)
plain dark tie (she doesn't have one. Dh did have one for his Dad's funeral 10 years ago. God knows where it is)
smart dark shoes (she doesn't have any. She wears trainers to school, has leather knee boots, riding boots and wellies)

She needs the above to be a Waaf. Also needs to be a civilian in the 40's and an old lady of today .

I've spent all morning in charity shops.
I've got a black wool skirt which I'll hack up to fit her and also make a tie out of. She can wear her school blouse.
I need to phone the school and ask if plimsolls will do.
Can try and buy tights or will suggest drawing a line up the back of her leg with eyeliner... or marker pen

I got a top that looks vaguely 40'sish and a cotton dress (both adults and will need altering)
She can wear a cardi and another skirt I got as the old woman. I'll also suggest sprinkling talc in her hair

But, despite trawling all the charity shops I couldn't find a copy of Twilight.

EdwardCullensWife · 26/03/2009 16:57

Oggs you won't find it in a charity shop. No-one's gonna read it and then give it away. Tsk.
Berrie, is the back any better?
I've spent the day painting the woodwork/doors in the downstairs hallway and it's looking fantastic. It was all a horrible yellowy brown due to 30 years of the previous owners smoking. I've done it off-white but in matt, not gloss. DP will be pleased. He's been complaining that I spend too much time reading and not enough DIYing.

Berrie · 26/03/2009 17:04

Oh well done for the decorating Lyra...I keep meaning to do some but...well, you know!

Oggs, well done you for your charity shop trawl. What size show is she? Could you not pick something up for a couple of quid in Asda?

My back is terrible. DH is picking up my new prescription now. I took the dc's swimming but dh had to come and help. It is so painful I fel sick and my foot is fizzing.
Anyway ds swam without arm bands for the first time and I filled up I was so proud!

oggspocket · 26/03/2009 18:21

Lyra, I thought that there must be somebody who didn't like Twilight. Looks like you're right and there isn't.

Aah! at the bobbing baby Berrie boy
Dd is funny when she swims. She starts off swimming on the surface and ends up under the water .

Berrie · 26/03/2009 19:18

Yes, he was a bit like that!

oggspocket · 26/03/2009 19:36

Have you joined Ravelry yet? ?? ???

Berrie · 26/03/2009 19:49

What do you think!
I don't have a project though.
I read your book, it all looks a bit hard...
