Home-Made Easter Bonnets

A friend of my DD's has a daughter of 3 who goes to playgroup. Next Friday they are having an Easter Bonnet parade/party and she is seriously considering keeping her daughter at home because she doesn't know where to start in the bonnet department (she also has a baby of 6 months and not a lot of time).

So, helpful ladeez of mumsnet, does anyone have some quick'n'easy bonnet making tips? DD suggested a little straw hat with a few flowers stuck on and she wasn't impressed with that idea.

Are we talking a completely home made bonnet here?

Cut a strip of thin card long enough to fit round child's head. Staple/glue/tape into a circle.
Cut 2 more strips 1 to go from the circle over the head L to R and 1 from back to front. Push sheet of tissue paper/crepe paper up into the hat to fill in the gaps & stick in place.

Decorate with cut out paper butterflies, make tissue rosettes, stick on fluffy chicks bought from shop, add fluffy easter bunny ears, glitter, cotton wool... anything!

Does this make sense??? I'm sure if you googled "easter bonnet" make you'd find lots of instructions.

we did Chinese style - large circle of thin card, made a slit to the middle and overlap edges so you turn it into a cone. Stick 2 ribbons underneath to tie under chin. and stick anything on it ...hot cross buns, easter eggs , plastic daffodils, tissue flowers etc etc
