more than likely yes to be blunt unless it jumped out but im sure u would have found it then

tigi · 08/04/2005 19:36

i have two goldfish, but one would have had to dislocate its jaw to get the other one down it! Are you sure its not jumped out and behind a cupboard, has a cat got in?

fairyfly · 08/04/2005 19:37

Yeh, they nibble on each others fins too

crunchie · 08/04/2005 19:38

They are in a bowl, with a lid which even the kids can't open !!!

Surely it wouldn't have eaten the WHOLE fish?

Tadpoles eat each other though, if there's not enough food for them, so for those of you who have got tadpoles in a jar somewhere, remember to give them some fish food or something.

Found this quote on another site for you.....

What sort of fish are they? Goldfish/other coldwaters don't eat each other unless they're of vastly different sizes (and even then they're more likely just to take chunks out of each other).

Tropical fish on the other hand love to eat each other if they can...have you got different-sized species, or anything particularly agressive (eg Siamese fighting fish?)

The biggest cause of death (other than cannibalism!) in fish is overfeeding - feed very sparingly, every other day if you've a generous hand. Also make sure you quarantine new fish to prevent them introducing disease into your tank.

Well I am toally confused a week ago there were two, now there is one. Go figure

Cannibal gerbils???

Thank god all we have is a fat furry feline.

tamum · 08/04/2005 20:21

Yup. It was the babies that got, well, eaten

CarrieG · 08/04/2005 20:22

...& I had a right little b$stard of a Russian hamster, murdered his cage mate then took to biting my hands & offering the cat outside...

We've had quite a few tropical fish 'disappear', obviously having been eaten - but they're smaller & there's more of them, so easier to miss half-munched corpses iyswim...

tamum · 08/04/2005 20:23

at offering the cat outside!!!

motherinferior · 08/04/2005 20:27

And there aren't any decomposed remains floating fishily around?

(although I suppose if one pegged it through natural causes the other might feast on its fresh corpse, mightn't it...)

crunchie · 08/04/2005 20:31

Nope no corpse and no cat either!!!
