healing after forceps

I had a forceps delivery, lots of stiches etc.
Now my GP has told me that a small flap of skin has formed over the very lower end of the vaginal opening. She suggested giving it a snip, or trying sex!!! Not very appealing after only 12 weeks. Has this happened to anyone else?

No... but hopefully someone can tell you more !

mouli, I didn't heal very well after ventouse, forceps delivery with an epi and also tearing. I would give yourself a little more time before deciding what to do. I tried sex after 5 months but was still so sore that we had to leave it for another 2 months. If the flap is going to tear when you have sex, I would definitely recommend NOT trying that option surely it wouldn't be pleasant for you or your partner. I would suggest that you have it snipped with lots and lots of local anaesthetic and even a large glass of wine before hand.

I had this after ventouse (1/2 hour of intricate embroidery went on down below!)
I got the same advice as you. The Obstetrician explained that sex will not tear it, but stretch the skin slowly, and to try stretching it myself in the bath for a couple of weeks prior to anything else. Sex was a bit uncomfortable but not painful, and after a couple of tries (with added lubrication both of the alcoholic and KY variety) it was ok.
Then I had another baby, tore again along the same line and exactly the same thing happened, and I did the same again.
Must say though it was a bit after 12 weeks before we tried anything! Think it was about 4.5 months, but can't remember. HTH

Thank you! Went to my (lovely) GP today and she has prescribed some oestrogen cream which should break adhesions. She told me to try it for 2 weeks, then have a go at sex! in fact "go for it" were her exact words!
