My current mot cert runs out on 11th feb. I just got the car mot'd and it failed. Can i still legally drive it until last years mot cert runs out or does the failed certificate override the old one?

Thanks

I think you can still drive it, as long as its not a death trap, the garage should tell you if so.

i thought that garages wernt anymore allowed to let you drive it away? (might have got my wires crossed but thats how i undersand it)

also if you car is failing its MOT it wont be legal so in the unlikely event that the police stop you and check they could 'do you' for it (though in reality i expect they would give you 14 days to do it)

thankyou! won't drive it anymore, will have to look for a new car at the weekend as the repairs will cost more than my car is worth!
