Gosh I have been posting for over a year! Feels like longer - can't remember life without Mumsnet!

Jimjams · 06/05/2003 15:18

What is going on??? Read this and M2T thread. I have seen this before (on another site think) where someone seemed to post under a different name to stir things up and then forgot to change the name and posted again.

Very odd behaviour.

I for one am in a very good mood today- which is most unlike me

I'm no Sherlock but something fishy is going on here! There seems to be some fairly obvious over-reactions and overlapping posts. Someone said that Mumsnet had changed, well it hasn't. I came on Mumsnet nearly 2 years ago now, and this was happening then! Jbr used to be our controversial poster, but now she's gone. This sort of thing highlights the insecurity of cyber-discussions - trust no-one! After all, how easy is it to change your nickname and be someone else for a while? And how easy it is to stir up controversy.

I don't really know what is going on with all the posts, maybe Tech could step in for us? But until we find out, we should be careful about what we say, and never presume anything. I have my suspicions, but I really think this is one for Tech. Can they find out the real identity of certain posters?

Hi folks,

As you know we operate on a policy of minimum intervention on Talk, but we have had a couple of emails from members about this thread and felt we had to respond. First off we can tell if someone is posting under two different nicknames and it doesn't seem to be the case here. Secondly at the risk of sounding holier than thou/censorious I just wanted to draw everyone's attention to mumsnet's philosophy as stated on Talk's main page "The thinking behind mumsnet is that by pooling knowledge and experience, parents make the job of parenting easier..."etc
Last time I looked there were 128 discussions open at the moment on Talk today, it'd be great if folks felt they could just let this one lie now, forget about having the last word, leave any unpleasantness behind and move on to one of the others and do what you all do so brilliantly day in and day out - give advice, support and lots of laughs to other mumsnetters, regardless of how long they've been posting!

Apologies for butting in.

Carrie, Justine and Rachel

Hi Bossykate - is it really me you're thinking of? If so I am hugely touched.

bossykate · 07/05/2003 13:34

yes, it is, debster, hope things are going ok for you.

bloss, thanks for the update, yes have found "the more you post, the more you post"! good luck with settling in to your new place.

grommit · 07/05/2003 16:36

Have found chiccadum for you on the diet thread that runs and runs.
She posts today:
"Got weighed on Monday just gone and lost another 3lb making it 1 stone in 3 weeks"

She sounds alright to me! Probably desn't know you're worried!

breeze · 15/05/2003 07:18

She has had a terrible cold for the past few days, other than that she is fine, I will pass on your regards.

Chiccadum · 15/05/2003 07:38

Haaaaallllllloooooooo Droile and Bron

Well after a horrible week things settled down though she lost alot of weight, she is now well on the mend and eating more.

As Breeze said I have had a terrible cold for the past few days but feeling better now.

Just to let you know that we are all ok and I'll catch u later

Clarinet60 · 15/05/2003 09:59

Phew, Chiccadum! That's a relief!

JJ · 25/05/2003 22:19

I'm missing Croppy. It's not fair (oh, ok, it is, but I don't like it) ducking in and out.

Hope to see you more regularly soon.

tigermoth · 26/05/2003 09:17

yes, where is mollipops?

Bloss, glad to see you're here on the asking side, not the asked about side. A while back I thought you'd gone AWOL.

JJ, croppy often disappears for a few weeks then comes back, doesn't she? Last saw her name on the private health thread, I think.

I'd like to know if Emmam is still around.

Tinker · 26/05/2003 10:20

And mopsy?

WideWebWitch · 26/05/2003 10:50

Agree about Mopsy and Mollipops - how are you both (if you're reading this)?

Marina · 26/05/2003 19:34

Agree about the two Ms and Croppy, and what has happened to fellow City inmate Prufrock...?

Just wondered about Jasper, is she away on her hols?

Bron, Eulalia posted something on the Big Brother thread in the last couple of days.

musica · 28/05/2003 18:33

I was wondering if ellasmum was around - I think we are due around the same time, and haven't seen her recently.

prufrock · 28/05/2003 21:13

I was on holiday Marina. Just got back tonight. I did consider logging on fropm Greece, but decided that it would just be too too sad when my baby was in Toddler club, the sun was shining, there was sailing to be done and beer to be drunk

Marina · 28/05/2003 22:20

Sounds hideous Prufrock, thank goodness you managed to escape and get back to London in one piece
