crystaltips · 06/05/2003 13:48

Sorry - but I think that we are giving Rioja far too much air time. She's no doubt enjoying all the controversy.
Can we just drop this thread and talk about somehting safe like the weather.
Lets got to the Yurt for a "Group Hug" !!

I've got 4 kids but it definately is not me. Promise

Bozza · 06/05/2003 13:49

Demented - I know things have moved on and I hope that I am not going to be igniting things but I know what you mean about "stomping off". I have seen people say they are leaving many times and then an appeal goes and then sometimes (more often than not) they respond. Not really surprising considering the addictive nature of mumsnet.

Mum2Toby · 06/05/2003 13:53

Bozza - in my defence once again...... I'm not that pathetic and insecure that I need those sort of ego boosts.
Perhaps others have. I've witness only one other person and as far as I know they have never returned (unless under a different name. And good on them of this would the treatment if they did decide to return. I should've done that!!!!

whymummy · 06/05/2003 13:54

janh????????

janh · 06/05/2003 13:55

whymummy - meaning, how awful for you and why was it like that. (Sorry. Genuine question - just you mentioning Spain here reminded me. Should I leave now? )

grommit · 06/05/2003 13:56

M2T - that person is probably now going under the name Rioja

whymummy · 06/05/2003 13:58

oh no janh please!! i thought you were being sarcastic and saying i deserved it!!! again i`m not angry with you either, friends????

Mum2Toby · 06/05/2003 14:01

LOL Grommit!

janh · 06/05/2003 14:02

OK, friends! but I still am curious what it was like being in a school like that! Sounds really scary...

janh · 06/05/2003 14:04

and edgarcat, that's terrible too (mean of your DH to laugh!) Hope they don't still do things like that.

Clarinet60 · 06/05/2003 14:05

I suspect that someone who would post under a different name, then single somebody out to be nasty to wouldn't necessarily be honest about the number of children she has. (I can't spell lately)
And it wasn't me.
Actually, Mumtotoby, I was glad you brought the subject up because I was wondering why people thought mumsnet had changed. It feels the same to me, but then, I haven't been here for quite one year yet, so perhaps I'm a relative newcomer too.

whymummy · 06/05/2003 14:08

well,it was,i still have nightmares about the treatment we received,(the worst one was having to stand up and sing to a photo of effing franco)seriously though its too horrid to tell in this thread as "some" might be glad!!theres none of that nowadays and schools in spain are really good

Enid · 06/05/2003 14:11

I can't believe that someone would deliberately change their name just to be nasty to someone - it looks like Rioha has been posting for some time.

I agree lots of her posts are quite aggressive.

Very sad if she has lied about her children too

Droile, like someone further down the thread I did a search and the number and ages corresponsded as time went on so unless she has a continuity assistant I think they are true!

whymummy, we were on holiday in Spain over Easter and there was a junior school up the road and a senior school down the road, they did all look very happy and not at all downtrodden! (And the school run traffic jams were just as bad as they are here.)

Rioja had another go at me on the Nut Allergy thread...... implying that I didn't really have food allergies!! I still think it's someone stirring up sh*t.

Edgarcat..... I'm trying not to respond and get some work done (well kind of.. ), but I'm not passive by nature and this has gone WAAAAAY too far! I feel it's gotten very personal. It's just playing on my mind now and driving me MENTAL!

Tigger2 · 06/05/2003 14:25

Well I can start a thread on the ins and outs of lambing and calving and give all of the gory details, that should send you all running!!!

I know Edgarcat..

Tigger2 - that sounds great... I used to help out on a lambing farm during my easter holidays from school when I was 14/15.... bring all those memories flooding back.

I still can't eat lamb coz it smells like the substitute milk the orphaned lambs were fed on!! Bleurgh!!!

susanmt · 06/05/2003 14:35

Good greif this has got a bit personal hasn't it! Never looked at this thread before, but am bored this afternoon and trying to do something that doesn't make me throw up!!
I post if I have something to add, don't if I don't. I do try to be constructive and have got to the stage where I don't get involved in threads that push my buttons (private education/GF/some health stuff/religion) as I have said almost all I want to say on these matters and anyway no-one wants to hear my woeful tales about GF again!
I don't know if I count as old or new, I can't even remember how long I have been here now, but I do get a great deal out of Mumsnet and hope I manage to give a bit too. Going off to look at when I started posting now!

Bozza · 06/05/2003 14:43

M2T I didn't intend to suggest that you needed any sort of an ego boost. Sorry that it came across that way. Although, as an aside, having read a lot of the other threads that you have partipated in and seen the repartee that you have with a lot of other posters, it seemed obvious to me that a lot of people wouldn't want you to go.

I merely wanted to point out that I could see where Demented was coming from.
