Aka le Patatine

OMG, am I mutton dressed as lamb? I still go into Top Shop. I find Next and French connection too stuffy and grown up for my taste, and as for Wallis and Principles

If you have the legs, no prob!

will ring them tomorrow, thanks

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 31/01/2009 22:05

my skinny jeans, and my boycut jeans are topshop.....

Penthe, just wear wide boots if you feel self-counscious

Brangelina · 31/01/2009 22:05

You should try them on, you never can tell how something is going to look unless you try them on. I used to have a horror of tops with ruched bobby bits as the made by booby bits looked like a giant sausage, but I recently was persuaded to try a designer one on and it wasn't bad at all. I didn't buy it thoug, far too expensive and in a flimsy material that doesn't go well with cats.

OP posts:
Brangelina · 31/01/2009 22:06

that should be booby bits....

I now wonder if I should stop looking at Miss Sixty stuff as it's not really aimed at my age group, is it?

Penthesileia · 31/01/2009 22:08

LOL @ Wallis and Principles...

Thanks for the tip, Sunflower.

Thing is, though: how do you know if you've got the legs? Half of Britain wears skinny jeans, and I'm pretty darn sure that those flabby, pasty, muffin-topped mingers think they've got the legs...

Penthesileia · 31/01/2009 22:09

Ruched booby bits... Hilarious!

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 31/01/2009 22:10

Wallis and principles, brrrrrrrrrr, maybe ok for my mum.... Next, no, I like low-rise (no belt-rise mind you) plus they dress too big, so they don't have stuff for me, French connection, they occasionally have some pretty things (they had a '60s style very short dress last winter I just loved (but not for the pregnant me!), so I stick to Miss S, Wearhouse and TS

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 31/01/2009 22:10

LOL penthe, skinny jeans are not their only problem!

Penthesileia · 31/01/2009 22:12

I think I am very boring and untrendy: wear a lot of Jigsaw and Noa Noa. I think it's because I work around 18-21 year olds, so don't want to look like I'm trying to compete or fit in... [sad old git] But, perhaps I am old before my time...

Penthesileia · 31/01/2009 22:13

True! I am like this: a lot of the time when I'm out in town... People are so weird. And deluded. And fat!

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 31/01/2009 22:17

and my manager used to tell me I would have ended up like typical "big italian mammas" after DS!!.

Brangelina · 31/01/2009 22:18

at the memory of huge muffin top in the first few months after DD's birth, when I was so determined to get back into my size 10s I just lopped all the excess over the top. Oh the wobbliness of it all I'm so ashamed now, what was I thinking?!? I blame momentary loss of the taste section of my brain due to screaming hormonal situation.

OP posts:
SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 31/01/2009 22:21

me too... try to cover up, plus when I'm out I'm normally wearing wrap sling with baby, so lots of layers around shameful muffin...

Brangelina · 31/01/2009 22:37

Oh yes, slings always managed to make nay tops I had on ride up shamefully. Ooh, it was bad!

Off to bed now, we have an early start tomorrow. Notte!

OP posts:
Penthesileia · 31/01/2009 22:48

I'm sure that any muffin tops you ladies had pale into insignificance in comparison to some of those on show by the UK's finest...!

Notte!

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 31/01/2009 22:54

notte

PippiCalzelunghe · 31/01/2009 23:58

penthe FGS I thought you were going to say can I wear skinny jeand and I'm 50. If you don;t wear them now when are ya girl?? Okay maybe not with a tight over-the-belly-button top unless you are 15 but with a long shirt/jumper/dress and chunky/uggs/biker boots.

ah ah ah look at me I think I am Jess Cartner-Morley .

night night.

(back from babysitting - dh and I drinking wine with cheese and buisquits....)

Rosa · 01/02/2009 08:36

I cannot wear skinny jeans ..As I would look like a gelato with a muffin on top no make that a double muffin!
When working I used to wear Wallis as I could race in when in the Uk and grab and run - I had a lot of suit wearing kind of work. could not afford the Italian stuff. Now I buy anything that fits - quite sad really but my clothing standards have dropped I fall into the category of a slummy mummy - jeans jumper , jeans t shirt, scraped back ponytail and then have a total panic when I have to go somewhere and wear something other than the old faithfuls- I need Trinny and Sussanah.
Its snowing here and we have a party this pm will I need chains for the pram ???
I am going to cut ans paste the 2 cakes and try them when I have excess of Bananas and I must get some Molasses.
If anybody wants pics of minirosa post your e mail addresses . She was a bit of a monkey last evening but the night she behaved!

Bucharest · 01/02/2009 10:30

I'm a boy really. I hate clothes, and shoes, and make up. (my Mum made me start wearing it, and made me buy a handbag when dd was born as it was time I Grew Up and Became A Woman now that I was with child.....)

Almost all my clothes are Per Una (we have a factory shop near my Mum's) and I have one pair of shoes! (when they break, I buy a new pair...)

I also have no waist but small hips (told you I was meant to be a boy) and am nearly 6ft tall so any length skirt is wrong.....

gio71 · 01/02/2009 11:22

Was faithful devotee of skinny jeans in 80's but sad realisation that have huge arse and short legs means boot cut all the way for me now , would love to wear them and am very of you that can still wear miss sixty

PippiCalzelunghe · 01/02/2009 12:48

per la cronaca: I am a slummy mummy too. yesterday while writing post like Karl Lagerfeld I had black cord trousers tshirt and gray jumper all covered in dried milk/pasta etc and pony tail. what's make up? ahhh that stuff you put on that on time when you go out with dh like anniversaried or smthing???

Rosa · 01/02/2009 12:53

I look lovingly at my must be expired makeup - As I was always in and out of duty free I have a selection of the nice brands.
MInirosa discoverd her fist and her thumb comes out every once i a while does that mean she will become a full time thumb sucker- I have to keep rolling up her sleeves as she drools all over them.
Party this pm is one I like all older mums sheer co oncidence we were all at same swimming group. So lots of grey hair , bumpy bits and no fashion statements . Next fridays party is another matter !!!!
Snow now sleet and rain so dh and I will get soaked !

monkeysmama · 01/02/2009 13:02

Hmm. I am now very worried! I am 32 & live in skinny jeans & leggings. Am I mutton dressing as lamb?! I had never even considered being too old for skinny jeans! What else would I wear? Leggings or skinnys, polo neck & cardi/dress/jumper/shirt and long boots is my uniform. Oh no.

As for makeup, I am every advertisers' dream. I wear light make up every day & have a particular mascara obsession. How shallow do I sound!? I am not a bad person really.

Someone mentioned Jess CM. I read what she writes but then look at her photo in said clothes & think she looks wrong.

beforesunrise · 01/02/2009 13:07

Bucharest, my mum bought me a hairbrush when dd1 was born/my 30th birthday (the events more or less coincided), with the words: You have reached the age where you must brush you hair in the morning... I never owned a hairbrush before!

DD2 loves chewing on it
