Awww bless her! I'd love to hold a tiny sleepy baby

Yes forgot to and at the cannibal comment!

gio71 · 30/01/2009 20:01

ooh I want to hold minirosa as well. Hope the bookings pick up Rosa.Being self employed isn't much fun at times is it
Congrats on house offer Sputnik, thats fab, whereabouts have you gone for in the end?
We went to scuola materna today with form. They were lovely, ds just ran off immediately and went exploring.Have put down for half a day and the maestra said that they haven't turned anyone away over the last few years so fingers crossed. It's about a minute walk from our apartment so it's so handy as well.
Sputnik I have no idea how I keep straight face round the majority of what FIL says, just have to strategically disappear into the kitchen to snigger/hit something. Suffice to say as you can tell by his comment he's not too happy re the idea of most powerful man in the world being black . How dp is the liberal, leftie he is is a miracle considering FIL is right of Hitler!

hothell · 30/01/2009 20:01

Franca why don't you go for another one? Surely now you are in Milan it would be easier, no? You know you want it!!!!!

francagoestohollywood · 30/01/2009 20:04

Hot, for another one what? area you mean? (sorry, I'm a bit tired and mildly drunk... )

Gio glad you liked the materna .

Yes, my parents are getting more and more right wing. I don't understand. They were pretty liberal and progressive in the 1970s

francagoestohollywood · 30/01/2009 20:05

oh you mean baby? Noooooo. You know how I feel. I adore babies. But, I don't think I can cope with another child, really

hothell · 30/01/2009 20:42

even though the big ones are at school?

francagoestohollywood · 30/01/2009 20:50

Yes. I find the idea of having 3 children exciting but scary. I would want to have a nanny full time. And that's frowned up, at least on mn

francagoestohollywood · 30/01/2009 20:51

upon.

PippiCalzelunghe · 30/01/2009 20:55

yes franca I can see that with my mum (going all conservative, not in a racist tone though) it's the italian media that brainwashes them all methinks.

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 30/01/2009 20:55

2 to bed, let's hope the 2 big ones get some sleep tonight...

Franca, with the 2 older at school, they're practically independent and would be great entertainers/babysitters so won't be too hard. Are your family close by?

francagoestohollywood · 30/01/2009 21:03

Yes, family close by. I'd have lots of support, yes. But I always get this feeling of claustrophobia when I think about toddlers...
I really really adore babies (and toddlers) I just don't think I want one around full time . Yet, I keep pondering about the possibility. I'm weird.

hothell · 30/01/2009 21:14

toddlers are exhausting, i do get anxious about my wonderful sleepy dd turning into a destructive demanding toddler, but at least i know this time that even toddlerhood is short. i find fascinating the time when they start to talk. it's hard. we are sticking at 2.

see I always get this feeling of claustrophobia when I think about babies. I adore toddlers. I can do things with them, they're my mates etc etc. newborns... boh!
I don't know what we'll do. depends on the day.

PippiCalzelunghe · 30/01/2009 21:20

hot I'm watchin McLeod

hothell · 30/01/2009 21:23

OHHH, MEE TOOOOO!
i fancy him again, he looks cute, no?
and the castle!!!!!

hothell · 30/01/2009 21:26

nooo, babies are not claustophobic, you can do anything with them, staying at home is sooo lovely with a baby.....with toddlers you are trapped into taking them out 2 a day otherwise they drive you nuts..
if your dd2 is walking already do you refer to her as a baby or do you consider her a toddler? is she saying little words?

hothell · 30/01/2009 21:27

can you check your email girls?

francagoestohollywood · 30/01/2009 21:32

Yes, I don't get the same feeling of claustrophobia with babies. They are portable. They are cuddly. I can live velcroed to a baby for the first 8 months, even 12. And then I start to crave physical freedom (george michael: Freeeeeedom, freeeedom).

hothell · 30/01/2009 21:41

get a nanny from 12 months and don't tell mumsnet.

francagoestohollywood · 30/01/2009 21:46

Yes, I could opt for nursery, I prefer collective childcare...

Penthesileia · 30/01/2009 21:47

Do people on MN have a problem with nannies? Can't believe that, given that so many seem to have 'em!

francagoestohollywood · 30/01/2009 21:50

Well they would in my case, as I don't work full time. Plus, I really prefer nurseries to nannies, and this spells trouble on mn

Penthesileia · 30/01/2009 21:53

Wicked woman! Don't you want to look after your darling children. They will remember that when they're older, you know!!

hothell · 30/01/2009 21:54

sometimes i lurk on the nanny threads, they are very funny, lots of ladies with high expectations from their nannies.
