Aka le Patatine

Oh, I thought it was a sporting event. I do remember a chain-smoking prof of French being sacked because he hadn't produced a paper in many many years. I am very rpoud of my alma mater now, although I will insist it was much better before the W part got added.

Franca, we had that. One stupid cow I rang up wouldn't even make an appointment with me but did with DP when he rang up. Was it because I'm a forriner or because I'm female? We never did find out, but she kept answering to DP the questions I asked.

Random tanget, lol @ Grimaldi... The trouble with having no real frame of reference for Italy beyond the cultural, IFSWIM: when I see Grimaldi, I think Simon Boccanegra, not estate agents!

francagoestohollywood · 29/01/2009 22:24

No, I'm not. I chickened out when I had the chances to start that career...

Brange, yes, they sound as if they were doing you a favour. Shouldn't they be begging for buyers nowadays?
Plus, in the UK you have clear websites, with pics and the price of the house etcetc, here it's all shhhhhh. So Italian.

Penthesileia · 29/01/2009 22:25

tangent

Brangelina · 29/01/2009 22:26

I think they worry that you'll go and knock on the door and cheat them out of their fee. Daft buggers.

Are we going offline soon?

The housing market and general process in Italy sounds quite nightmarish; FIL is trying to sell a flat at the moment.

francagoestohollywood · 29/01/2009 22:26

Lol penthe. It is clear then who is the academic here. When I hear Grimaldi I think about Montecarlo (avid reader of gossip mags in the 70s emoticon)

Penthesileia · 29/01/2009 22:27

God, it's 10.30 already!

See, it's so nice chatting with you, the time flies. [ass-licking emoticon]

francagoestohollywood · 29/01/2009 22:28

Oh dear Penthe I don't envy him. And I thought that it was stressing in the UK

Yes, I think so Brange. And dh is ready to go to bed... uffa

francagoestohollywood · 29/01/2009 22:29

... and that's just for a jar of nutella

Brangelina · 29/01/2009 22:30

Or Grandi Navi Veloci.

Houses are shifting more slowly now, mainly because people aren't prepared to lower their prices by much, or so I believe. My neighbours took 18 months to sell theirs despite being in a central location. Also, apparently here in Brianza everyone wants 2nd bathrooms and their crime was only having one.

Awwwww - you said "uffa". I heart that sound. DH makes that.

Up there with my fave Italian exclamations, such as, "Dai!!!!"

Also, "boh"

Brangelina · 29/01/2009 22:31

DP is still out at his serata. He comes it at 3am all cold and tries to warm himself up against me. I am not amused, I can tell you.

OP posts:
Penthesileia · 29/01/2009 22:32

Anything for a jar of Nutella, franca.

Anything.

Ahem.

Penthesileia · 29/01/2009 22:32

LOL, Brange!

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 29/01/2009 22:34

penthe "dai" is the only word DP has learnt to say properly, usually said to DS when he has to get ready for bed

francagoestohollywood · 29/01/2009 22:34

Dai is very nice.
I have to go. I want to read a few pages. Buonanotte

Brangelina · 29/01/2009 22:35

I use dai a lot with DD instead of the English equivalent, as well as basta. They sound so much more effective.

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 29/01/2009 22:36

Sorry that was blunt. I'm just in a hurry because dh rashes me and complains if I'm still reading when he switches off his light. Perhaps we need 2 bedrooms
Ciao sunflower!

francagoestohollywood · 29/01/2009 22:36

blunt? what does it mean? boh.
Daiiiii!

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 29/01/2009 22:37

yes, basta is the other one he uses quite well (actually, he seems to speak italian a lot when he gets impatient/annoyed with DS )

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 29/01/2009 22:38

notte franca

Brangelina · 29/01/2009 22:38

You need a reading light to clip on your book. Brilliant invention.

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 29/01/2009 22:41
