franca, I started answering your question, but realised I'd bore everyone to death, I tried to keep it short but ended up with a book, you see we had her friend after she left, and that was even weirder, actually that was Psycho-scary weird...

francagoestohollywood · 23/01/2009 22:57

Blimey Sunflower !
Now you got us intrigued...
But I need to go to bed, as I'm working tomorrow as well.

francagoestohollywood · 23/01/2009 22:58

Write away, we don't mind (at least I don't mind, being a curiosona...)
ciao!

Brangelina · 23/01/2009 23:07

Yes, I'm a nosey old cow too and I love a good read. I get strangely drawn to the nightmare inlaw threads on here.

franca, I'll save it for another rainy day then, remind me, have to go feed DD

notte

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 23/01/2009 23:41

DD seems to have gone back to sleep... so I start...

Flatmate one (first flat we bought, 2 bed, needed money!!):
lovely girl in her 30s, southamerican, italian origins, by lovely I mean irritatingly nice girl, constantly asking how you are etc. no clue on how to use a mop, after a few months of no cleaning/washing up I had to "teach" her (felt weird teaching s.one nearly 10yrs older) and set up rotas, to not avail, as she was always at church/church groups at weekends. One hot sunny day came back home to find windows open, central heating on as she had to dry her polyester uniform she needed 2 days later for work (we also had a dryer). One night we came back at 4.30am and she was waiting up as she'd f'd up central heating system and washing machine (which she really ruined then). One night I was in living room watchin tv and she comes asking if she can use MY bath towel to dry the kitchen floor - washing mashine had flooded and she hadn't realised despite being barefoot in the kitchen. she'd often leave pots of water to boil dry. would spend one hour getting dressed in the bathroom every morning (only one bathroom for 3 people who had to go to work at same time), our theory was she was embarassed to get changed in front of various madonne/crucifissi. she's spend 1-1.5hrs in the shower every night. lost count of glasses she broke (never replaced them) or pans she'd burnt (one was burnt while boiling potatoes!). could go on forever.... you asked! and not even done her friend yet!

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 23/01/2009 23:45

right, will tell about psycho-friend tomorrow if you still want too

Penthesileia · 23/01/2009 23:48

I'm all ears, Sunflower!

She sounds a nightmare!

Brangelina · 23/01/2009 23:50

Blimey! How long did she stay with you?

I look forward to the 2nd installment tomorrow.

Off to bed now as will no doubt not get a lie in tomorrow.

hi everyone, just saying ciao before I plonk myself on the sofa... DP's back, and guess... 10 packs of spaghetti and 3 packs of ham/salami we can get at Tesco's!!!

night night e buon fine settimana

Penthesileia · 24/01/2009 21:27

I neeeeeeedd to know about your weird flatmate, Sunflower! Don't keep us hanging!

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 24/01/2009 21:58

was going to go but then started reading this....

forgot to say, she applied to work where I worked (Civil service) and under the question "do you have any illness" or s.thing like that she wrote "I get colds every winter"
right then, Flatemate 2:
when we bought this house, it needed a lot of work and so flatemate 1, who was really attached to us, wanted to stay with us (me thinks because we felt sorry for her so she got away with a lot) had to find new accomodation as the friends she was staying with were going on hols for 2 wks and found an excuse she couldn't stay in the house by herself (guess they had tha feeling of "oMG, is the house still standing" like we had every time we went out).

really sorry, need to go, crying babe!

francagoestohollywood · 24/01/2009 23:18

Lol lol lol at I get colds in winter .

I need to go to bed, as very tired, but lol lol lol at colds in winter!

Rosa · 25/01/2009 11:17

Morning - dd febbre was nothing but her projectile vomit this morning after a restless night was fun ... ALl over my bed , duvet, cover , through to mattress, her , me , her bunny 2nd installment over floor, drawers and wardrobe both shut . DH at work !
DOne 2 lots of washing need to do 1 more had to borrow next doors stendino! AM hoping the sun comes out and wind gets up so the stuff outside dries ! Scrubbed floors and gloves broke so I now stink of lysoform and have old lady cracked hands ! FBW ( three huge sware words ) SH seems ok now am off to give her pasta in bianco as she is hungry !
Oh and DH said yesterday we are to tighten our belts and try not to spend - He then goes out yesterday with the boys and buys a new coat ( not a cheap one ) that he doesn't need . SO I am buying a new pushchair !!!!!!!!!!

Penthesileia · 25/01/2009 13:29

Rosa - poor you and poor DD! Yuck. I have all this ahead of me - joy. I hope everything is calmer now.

Perhaps your DH needed a coat around which to tighten his belt?

The pushchair is for your DD; so obviously you too should have a (belted) coat...!

Sunflower - is there more? Colds in winter - uhhhh, yeah?!

Rosa · 25/01/2009 14:59

LOl at the tightening the belt don't think dh would get the joke it doesn't transalte well .HE said his friend made him buy it so I sent a text to the friend saying which pushchair I wanted !!!! I did get a new coat but I needed it - Its a windproof and should be mega warm but am not so sure ! in fact I still need another one to replace my tattered wool one.
DD got her first vomit bug at 13 mths when she broke her collar bone and was put in hosp as they didn't know at that point that it was broken . Playing with the toys in the hosp ( I now take my own when we go for checks etc and napisan wipes !!) she got this bug it was horrible but she was still on baby food so no diced carrots . She has been asleep for 2 hrs I have done 30 mins of ironing and rotated the stuff on the radiators / stendini! And re bicarbed the mattress / mopped the floor as obviously there is some stray puke somewhere !! Minirosa been quite good today maybe she can feel my stress.
Minirosa has 3 mth check ( I just have to load the pics from the camera )and am taking dd1 so she can have her ear checked as she is still complaining a bit about it .
Oh fun and games .. I used to manage 35 staff and 2 children are much harder !

monkeysmama · 25/01/2009 18:15

Buona sera

I've only been away a few days and not only has a new thread started, you are 10 pages in!

We had a nice weekend on a farm in Norfolk with some friends though dd has been feeling unwell and managed to wake up every few hours all 3 nights we were there. Back home now and she has a high temperature and is already in bed.

We're going to sit down and start to plan our summer holiday this evening. We're planning a big holiday in May and think we will have 2 weeks in Umbria probably this September (we like holidays). We are starting to look for a house in Italy which we can work on and eventually move to but haven't even narrowed down areas yet.

My big task this week is to get my provisional driving license. I have looked at driving lessons and it is so expensive . The idea of owning one of the new Cinquecentos wil spur me on even though it would mean getting rid of our pram but hey - they're lovely and almost as nice as the originals.

MM

PippiCalzelunghe · 25/01/2009 19:24

MM if you need info about Umbria let me know.

we are planning our hol and thinking of going to greece this year and betray italy. my only concern id dd's italian.

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 25/01/2009 22:41

sorry didn't come back last night, DP took over the laptop and I fell asleep on the sofa....

Rosa, so sorry about DD, hope she's better soon (I hate when they vomit)

anyway, back to Flatmate 2:

as I was saying, because the house needed a lot of work and was inhabitable, Flatmate 1 had to find s.where else, which I was very happy about, got to the point where I used to go to bed at 7pm to avoid her, but couldn't bring myself to kick her out... A few months later she rang to ask if we could take her friend in (we've met her and she also ended up getting a job where I used to work, unfortunately as she caused some problems there), as she'd been kicked out of where she was staying (2nd or 3rd time it'd happen). we didn't really want to, but thought we needed the money, so DP and FIL (he was here helping with the works), went to pick her and her 22 boxes (I'm not exagerating) of papers plus all her clothes etc. to thank us, she made pizza (I wish she hadn't, and FIL was actually sick!) the size of 4 slices of bread for 4 people at 11pm (we were all starving). anyway, she was very tight with money; the 22 boxes were packed with recepies (a part from that pizza, she never cooked as she had 3-4 1cm slices of cheddar + 1 cup coffe + 1 glass of coke (if on special offer) + bowl of all bran every single meal, lunch and supper, 7/7 days), which she'd spend spreading around the living room every saturday (so that we couldn't use it or watch tv, though she had a big bedroom with tv). we had to (sorry TMI alert) endure listening to her straining in the toilet as if she was in labour followed by "plopping" noise (not surprised really with all that cheese), would only get washed once a week (filling/emptying the bath 3 times as she didn't like lying in dirty water), staying in the only bathroom anything btw 2-3 hrs (FIL told her to be considerate in the end but to no avail). thankfully she used to go out often (she used to get free premiere tickets all the time), but when she came home very late at night she used to stand outside our bedroom door for ages (I kidd you not, 20-30 mins, we could hear her heavy breathing) and I had vision of Norman Bates... if our friends came round she would just follow us and stay with us without saying a word (occasionally falling asleep) and making our friends very uncomfortable - she was veeeeeery weird, you really had to meet her to understand (she's still mentioned by our friends as our weird flatmate 6 years on!) we eventually found out that she'd been kicked out of places 2-3 times, the last suspected of stealing a wallet (we had some money gone missing too), and had to tell her a story to get rid of her...

sorry, I tried to limit myself, and haven't even told about the disgusting things, but I guess I've already killed the thread

and after her, we took my best friend's exBF in as a favour to her, which was another nightmare, but just because he was a stereotypical lazy shovinistic italian male... needless to say, he was the last tennant (fell pg so perfect excuse as we needed the space)

if you're still with me, you deserve a medal!

gio71 · 26/01/2009 07:33

nooo you haven't killed the thread Sunflower, I am rivetted (SP?). - what a freak!!!!! I want another installment with the disgusting things as well . Flatmates are a minefield aren't they. I have had some fun ones over the years but my gripes with them seem pretty tame after reading your post!
Can't believe how much you have all chatted over the last few days-10 pages in!! Lol at tightening belt and Rosa get that pushchair AND some fabulous shoes or something for you!

Penthesileia · 26/01/2009 09:47

Dear god! Truly weird!! And yuck!

Thank goodness you became pg! Desperate times call for desperate measures!

francagoestohollywood · 26/01/2009 12:14

Ciao,
Hope that all the little ones who've been unwell are now recovering.
at sunflower flatmate !

I have a backache, after having been to the gym on Thurs. I knew I shouldn't have given in to the pressure of going to the sodding gym, I hate it

PippiCalzelunghe · 26/01/2009 13:02

sod the gym, it's boring and a pain. I've started swimming again and it's great, makes you feel brilliant afterwards and you don;t sweat while you do it.

believe it or not I've done a internet weekly shop at ocado yeasterday and was cheaper than all the other major supermarket except for asda, so I'm a convert. I've ditched tesco after I was stuck for 45 in the carpark last sunday.

francagoestohollywood · 26/01/2009 13:35

Pippi, I couldn't swim regularly, as I have gambe pelose (as you know ). Say: I have a wax. I have gambe lisce for 10 days. And then I'm hairy again, but have to wait a bit before all the hair is grown. So, swimming pool is a no no here.
I used to do ballet as a child. I often wonder: what if I had been very talented? What would I have done with the hairy legs???

The gym: of course it was a preent from my aunt... it was a very convenient tariffa....

Ocado didn't deliver in exeter . Have just been to esselunga for weekly shopping.

I have a cold.

Rosa · 26/01/2009 14:09

Vomit all gone and she was bouncing round this morning. Took minirosa for her check and she is ok to have her vaccinations tom ( I hate it when they squeal ). Also had dd1 ears checked and they are full as in tappo of cerume so we have to try and wash them with a spray thing .- think mega bribery will be needed here!
OH MY G Minirosa is almost over on her side ....She has wiggled on her bum round to the toys on her gym she has an arch and I put her under 1 and she has wriggled round to the others Huge proud mum emotion here !!
As for your flat mate ....go on give us more info !!
I need to get the wii fit out as I can forget swimming and the gym for a while not time. Just think Franca the next time you go it will be easier and good on you Pippi for swimmimg !
MM hope you dd gets better soon - we were talking about a holiday next winter as we cannot manage another winter here thinking about the Canaries again !!! However that is the credit crunch permitting.
