Bein nosey... have you got any interesting scars?

Mine is a nice boring one where my belly button piercing went nasty and I took it out.

Have you seen the dove advert with the woman with the star shaped scar? It looks much prettier than most

My brother has one that starts on his neck under hs chin curves round and up behind his ear and up to the side of his head. He was attacked with a stanley knife wielding maniac and was lucky to live to tell the tale - he nicked his jugular vein.

JanH · 04/04/2005 10:02

welshmum!

Was it a random attack? What happened to the maniac afterwards?

SoupDragon · 04/04/2005 10:15

One on my big toe where I trod on a metal spade, aged just over 1, that my brothers had helpfully buried in the sand on holiday. One on my neck from mole removal, a Y shaped one that runs round the bottom mof my ear, up the back and down the neck a little from a benign tumour removal and a one on my elbow from coming off my bike aged 10. Oooh, two little fang marks in my wrist where my dog bit me when I was about 7. Nothing very interesting rally.

And, presumably, a nice one in my nether regions from the 3rd degreee tear with DS1

JoolsToo · 04/04/2005 10:16

blimey - I feel privileged to have stayed out of the wars compared with you all!

SoupDragon · 04/04/2005 10:18

Luckily, the only really visible one is the one on myneck and that's just a white line. I think Ive got of lightly compared to a lot of you, particularly Welshmum's brother

Smurfgirl · 04/04/2005 12:36

Hmm. I have three on my cheek from where I was bit by a dog when I was 8, there is a line under my eye and then on my jaw bone two clear tooth indents.

I also used to self harm so I have loads of scars going neatly up my right arm, and my left arm has loads of random ones in all directions. And I have a word scarred onto my leg, v.emabarrasing in swiming costume

I never used to have so many scars urgh I really wish I had clean arms again.

SoupDragon · 04/04/2005 12:38

Vitamin e oil is meant to be very good for fading scars. I think it works on old scars too although not as well as on fresh ones. Squeeze it from those capsules you're meant to swallow.

Smurfgirl · 04/04/2005 12:41

Vitamin E works ok...I am tempted to try those scar reduction patches, but apparently in a few years I should qualify for scar treatment on the NHS. Meh. I'll never ever have nice arms again, but such is life. At least I have an interesting story

fastasleep · 04/04/2005 12:43

Smurfgirl I also have a word etched into one of my legs thank GOD it faded loads! It still goes a bit red under water but you can't tell that it is anything...

Smurfgirl · 04/04/2005 12:44

It would be ok, but like the geek I am I spelt this word wrong ! I could at least have angst and SPELL CORRECTLY.

fastasleep · 04/04/2005 12:45

Aww Smurfgirl I can't help smiling! I hope you get some good scar treatment!

welshmum · 04/04/2005 12:47

Knife wielding maniac was under 16 so ended up in a remand home. Brother ended up as a criminal barrister - his scar always impresses his clients
Was kind of random - maniac didn't like the fact that brother was in his way as he tried to drive his scooter down the road. So he drove at brother, brother took offence, brother got knifed.

wild · 04/04/2005 12:48

Huge zip-fastener type scars down my left hip, from the back of my pelvic bone down to half-way to my knee.

Some from when I was 2 years old and they made my hip work in the first place, one from the hip replacement 2 years ago, and one from when they mended my thigh when it shattered 3 months after the hip replacement.

I hate them, dh says it means he will always know it's me in the dark !!!

milliways · 04/04/2005 13:04

2 zip fastener scars - one on each hip, about 10'' long each , plus a small scar under chin from falling off bike as a teenager.

Easy · 04/04/2005 13:11

CDH then Milliways?

Me too.

milliways · 04/04/2005 13:16

Not quite but similar - inward rotating femurs!. Had hip spika frame age 7, plates out at 16, muscles moved in 20's and awaiting MRI scan to diagnose poss trapped nerve (I grew up with everything in the wrong place, they moved the bones, the rest is catching up!) Did you have ongoing probs?

milliways · 04/04/2005 13:17

Sorry - just re-read & saw hip replacement! Did you get arthritis?

Pinotmum · 04/04/2005 13:19

I have one scar under my eye at the top of my cheek bone where I was hit with an air pellet when I was 16 yo. I also have two scars on the back of my left leg where I was attacked by a Lima at a Zoo in Tenerife (don't know why but that always makes people laugh).
