I'VE BOOKED A HOLIDAY FOR 2 WEEKS IN MAY WHICH MEANS I HAVE TO TAKE MY 6,5 AND 4 YEAR OLDS OUT OF SCHOOL.HOWEVER, WHAT I HADN'T REALIZED WAS THAT I WILL HAVE TO TAKE THEM OFF FOR 11 DAYS RATHER THAN 10-JUST THE WAY THE FLIGHT TIMES ARE. I KNOW THAT I WAS TOLD THEY COULD TAKE X 10 DAYS OFF PER CALENDAR YEAR. WILL I BE FINED?

Doubt that you will be fined. The school may regester the one extra day as 'Unauthorised absence'. In my experience this will not be a problem if they are uaualy in school and you write to cover illness etc when it happens. Schools only tend to get other authorites involved with prolonged unexplained absences from school.

Rather than telling the school they will be off, write asking for the time off and also for some school work to do whilst they are away. I last wrote that it was for economic reasons.
