We are renting a house near Ledbury with some friends and their for a weekend in Feb and wondered if anyone could suggest some good walks/ places to visit/ good places to eat and possibly a good take-way?

We are a group of 3 couples, 4 children (4 - 8)
and 2 babies 6mnths.

we've booked the house and are arranging a shopping delivery but apart from that have made no plans. Suggestions much appreciated. TIA

Eastnor castle, the cider factory/visitors centre at Much Marcle (farm bit will be closed, probably better heading towards Malvern for walks.

If terrible weather and desperate, there's Play Planet and bowling in Hereford.

Can't think of any great restaurants, maybe Farmers Arms at Wellington Heath (pub with nice food)?

Olive Tree is a lovely pizza and pasta place in the town. Also a lovely black and white hotel that does nice food I believe.

There are some really nice shops there for some gifty type treats too.

Weston's cider is not too far away and of course walking on the Malvern Hills which is always very windy but fab for blowing away the cobwebs. There are some lower bits and tracks which will be ok at a slow pace for your lot.

You MUST go to Eastnor castle and go in the house which is where Davina McCall got married. Now there's fancy!!!!

thanks guys, the castle would be a good idea if weather is poor, but would it be open in winter? the olive tree sounds great too and i'm strangely drawn to a cider farm!!

the castle has a website www.eastnorcastle.com/ but looks like it may not be open?? Shame as the castle really is beautiful, looks like a proper castle should and has a little quiz for the DCs to follow inside to find a mouse in each room, so holds their interest too.

Westons cider place is more than a farm and runs tours of their cider process which is very very old, plus there's a nice shop and restaurant there but would be worth searching on net for details of open times I guess.
