Need to buy a new car.

Perfect sounding one in autotrader, but me n DH know nothing about cars, and don't have any car-y friends tbh (they are all computers )

Price etc sounds perfect for us, but we don't know what to look for in a car iyswim!!!

you can pay AA or someone used to be 25.00 to check it over, plus you should have some sort of come back?

VampiresWalkin · 17/01/2009 14:37

ooh been on AA - I can't find anything about them doing a check, but I did find a checklist that sounds good

car dealerships will probably be offering far better deals atm, they are DESPERATE to sell cars.

chocolateteapot · 17/01/2009 14:57

The RAC do inspections but from what I can see on their website it is (sit down for this) nearly 150 pounds. I reckon you are better off if you can going to a dealer, we did when we changed our car the other week and it did give me far more peace of mind, but obviously depends on who the dealer is.

What sort of car are you after ?

VampiresWalkin · 17/01/2009 15:05

ooh you got the new car???

How you feeling now?

Still a bit ropey thanks, what about you ?

We got the car two weeks ago and I really love it though have had to get used to extra size for parking which has been entertaining !

Have you looked up the one you've seen on Parkers to see what price they come up with ?

VampiresWalkin · 18/01/2009 10:37

Aww for still feeling ropey but yay for the car.

I'm ok, gradually getting better. No idea what Parkers is

parkers is a price guide thingy. you put int he detials, or just look up the model, and it gives you an idea of what to pya, private, dealer, and at certian mileages.

piratecat · 18/01/2009 10:41

Honest John, if you google is another helpful site for car buying, or even if you look up forums for the car you like.
