Wedding Blessing - do you give gifts?

My parents are going to a wedding blessing soon and want to know if they should give a wedding present. The actual wedding was in Australia which they didn't attend. They aren't close relatives but feel that something should be given. Anyone know what the etiquette is on this? I am not sure what is involved in the blessing itself with regards to food/drink etc. Has anyone been to a blessing and what happened? Thanks.

I would say yes, treat it as a wedding. My brother and wife married in St Lucia and then came back home and had a v.private blessing (only direct famil) but then a big party in a marquee at my parents. Everyone broght presents, there were speeches, dancing (I got off with the best man!! I'd been after him for years!)
