Can anyone please help me with tailor measurements required for an usher suit for DP?

I need to send DP's suit measurements to BIL for their wedding as he's going to be an usher (they are a loooong drive away and we may not get to visit before the wedding).

Now waist, collar, etc I'm guessing are self explanatory (widest point, yes?) but inside/outside arm/leg, where do you start/finish? Eg, is outside leg from waistband of existing trousers to floor, or to hipbone to ankle, or what?

and what measurements do I need apart from:
Collar
Chest
Waist
Inside & outside arm & leg

Would appreciate some help!

what company is your BIL using to hire the suits? when DH was an usher for SIL he went to the local branch of same chain to be fitted. Could you do the same?

failing that, I can ask DH later how the measurements were taken if no-one else actually knows how to do it?

Thanks Panda, we did wonder that but it's not a chain unfortunately, it's an independent somewhere in rural S Wales!
