Any mechanics?? or partner mechanics??

My car is a 2003 Astra 1.4 16v LS and for the past month the emmisions light keeps coming on. Sometimes it flashes then other times it is on steady. Took it to a garage and they said that it would cost £1000 to fix and put the MOT on which I think is a lot of money. Any advice??

Did they actually tell you what was wrong?

I had a similar thing happen on my VW Beetle and it was an oxygen sensor on the exhaust. It was done under warranty though so I couldn't tell you how much it cost.

If I was you I would visit another garage for a second opinion.

No they didn't except for something to do with a valve. DP has taken it to another garage this morning and was told that there is no way it should be that expensive and that the garage I went to does that alot and tells people to trade their car in for the simple reason that they can't be bothered to do this type of job as it is a big job. Funny that was his advice to us!!

Yeah definitely sounds like they couldn't be bothered with it! How did you get on with the second opinion?

Sorry so long to reply but internet been down.. As for the car, it is fixed now and it only cost us £281 in total with an MOT thrown in at another garage.

Defo will be telling others not to bother with the first garage.
