Can anyone help? I've tried the search board and various recommended sites but to no avail. It may be that I am not using the correct name as I can't remember what exactly we call it in the UK.Anyway I am trying to remove Tipex (white correction fluid )from a pair of black trousers. Anybody got any ideas? Thanks.

New black trousers.

I have never managed to remove Tipex from clothes totally.

Once it is dry you should be able to scrape off the majority - you can buy correction fluid thinner which would probably remove it but not sure what it would do to the colout in the trousers - can you try a bit on the inside of the waistband to see if it affects the colour.

It's like paint when it's dry so I agree with SimonHoward, I'm afraid, GRMUM!

(I think the spelling is Tippex - or Tipp-ex - there is Snopake too - might help your research!)

try fuel for lighters it removes chewing gum like magic so it might work on tipex as well, just rub it with a cloth damped in the fuel

Or you could try howtocleananything.com I haven't checked it but would have thought they'd call it correction fluid since it's an American site.

Another stain removal site:

www.hintsandthings.co.uk/utilityroom/remediesC.htm

It says "Scrape off as much of the white deposits as possible, as soon as possible. Clean off the remainder with a little white spirit." I think you'd be supposed to do it while it was still wet though....

I rubbed white spirit on my son's school blazer that was covered in tipex, it didin't disappear but looks a lot fainter, have put it back in the wash to see not only if it will remove the rest of the stain but get rid of the smell of white spirit also! Will keep you informed!
