I had lots of batteries and leads in a bask which was underneatht eh bin. Have looked at it and its all runny and leaking. I think it had come from one of tha chunky batt. Have thrown kleads into bin. Cant see that it is the bin.

Got some on me, do i need to worry? can i reuse the basket?

no idea what you should do TBH, but I am sure that you are not supposed to throw batteries in the bin...they should be recycled in some way.
