Not sure I can add anything to ghosty's comprehensive survey! but I thought I'd mention that the Baby Factory do vouchers as well as online shopping. That's if you want to send a "boring-and-practical", rather than "nice" gift.

(There are a couple of huge Baby Factory shops in Wellington and your friend will inevitably go there sooner or later! They have all the baby basics, well-known brands etc)
