third nipple...

I was giving ds his bath the other night when I noticed something below his right nipple... it looks like he has a third nipple there!
DP said it was just where the button of his dungarees had pressed into his skin, but it is still there today!

It's like a tiny indentation, less pronounced than his real nipples, and you can see a faint circle round the outside...

I am really upset over it, because he was so perfect, and now he isn't
And, I know it's a stupid thing to get upset over when there are so many other people with real health worries... but I can't help it.

Has anyone else had any experience of this? Does it need removing? will it get bigger???

Oh Starlover

My DD has a 3rd nipple - and she is just perfect in every way

She's probably going to have it a bit rougher than your DS though - it may well 'bud'when she delelops breasts and she will need to have her third boobie removed!

But she is perfect and always will be!

My DS was diagnosed with a 3rd nipple when he as about 18 months (it was a small indentation in the middle of the lower breast margin). He's 13 now, and nothing has developed further - you just wouldn't know.

starlover · 22/03/2005 22:27

I can't believe I only just noticed it...
do you think that his will develop into a proper nipple?
it isn't very noticable at the moment...
If it's going to get bigger then I would think about getting it removed soon I think

A lad at my school had one. I don't think it's that uncommon. Agree with beety, he's still perfect.

DS2 has quite a large mole type mark below his left nipple. It's prob about the shape and size of my thumb, with lots of little moles inside it and quite hairy too. He saw a dermatologist just to check it wasn't anything sinister (it's not) who said he could have it removed when he's about 12 if he chooses.

He's now 9 and has accepted it's part of him even though he can get a bit peed off when other kids ask what it is ie at swimming or getting changed for p.e. If he had it removed he would be left with an unsightly scar so he's decided the mole stays.

ahh, you're all right (of course!), he IS still perfect.
DP says he wishes he had one because it would be "really cool"! LOL

He's only 6 weeks old, but now I am paranoid that he'll get teased when he goes to school!
I think if I knew it was going to get bigger or whatever, then I would get it removed soon while it is still really small.... but by the sounds of it they generally don't do much

i have a third nipple, never grown just looks like a mole if you never knew. My df never noticed until i showed him, we had been together 7 months by then. Your baby is still perfect he is now has a special identity mark x

Peckarollover · 22/03/2005 22:45

I have a 3rd nipple too! It is a proper nipple (ie has a "teat") but just very minature compared to my proper nipples. It never grew with puberty.

I like mine

Ameriscot2005 · 22/03/2005 22:47

I have to ask - did it produce milk, Pecka?

mmmmchocolate · 22/03/2005 22:49

i like mine to pecka, and yes mine did produce a small amount of milk if i really squeezed it but it hurt. It is flat so never grew into a boobie x

Peckarollover · 23/03/2005 10:09

Mine did produce a little milk when breastfeeding yes, not much but a little - it has a hole in the top of it! lol
