Benvenuti, ciao hello

I am not that frugal, hence resolution, franca. I bought just one because I could not buy one pair for next autumn (although I tried ). and trust me I did try to guess dd's future foot size!! But I was very good in that I did not but any for dd2.

this and no jackets this year - next year for sure.

off to the vet.

Sputnik · 16/01/2009 16:51

Glad it's not just me, I just bought these for DD, but paid only £24 as it was the last pair in a "youth" size., not bad down from £90!!! They are a couple of sizes bigger than her present size so if not next year then the one after.

Was this Primigi outlet near Perugia Pippi? Umbria is not a million miles from us and we occasionally pass through.

francagoestohollywood · 16/01/2009 19:30

I knew you couldn't possibly be that frugal

Sputnik, those boots are cute!!! . (I contemplated buying dd those celtic boots in purple - I saw you on the thread! -, but frugality won!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

I am cr*p at second hand buying unless it is all displayed well ...I cannot rummage well I can but badly ...I am the same in TkMaxx and the next sale unless it jumps out and hits me I can never find a thing !!!!
Lovely boots dd got sale Naturino ones boring but they will do for No 2 if dd1 gets little use!
DD1 pumino is on year 2 but won't do yr 3 tried to get a sale one but no joy .Her beween season one is a Decathlon one 18 euro and will do next autumn and probably spring !

francagoestohollywood · 16/01/2009 20:13

I'm crap at second hand too, but I'm better in junk shops. In tkmaxx I once managed to get to Antik batik shirts for dd, gorgeous and a huge bargain!

I think time is the key re rummaging, I think I spent about 1 1/2 hours looking at 2 2nd hand stalls today. And I am terrible at deciding if I want something, that's why I like online shopping, you can mull it over.

francagoestohollywood · 16/01/2009 20:45

Yes, time is needed. But talent as well. I have a friend who can immediately spots something gorgeous in the market stalls. Obviously I'm

Also here in Milan second hand shops are all posh, and they cost £££

francagoestohollywood · 16/01/2009 20:47

Do you buy a lot for yourself on the internet sputnik?

Btw, I think we should all come to your market!

I get practically everything online, as I never really get to clothes shop in RL, since I was pg with DS basically. I could go into Rome by train, but it takes a while, then there's the metro bla bla, and I'd have to turn around again as soon as I got there. We occasionally go to centri commerciali but DH has zero patience so I might get 15 minutes and there's always queues as it's the weekend etc etc., so never end up getting anything. I should pluck up courage to drive there myself really, but driving in Rome freaks me out a bit!

Actually they have just opened one of those outlet villages near here, I went but 1/2 the shops weren't open yet, hopefully that'll be a good solution.

So anyway, the second hand stalls are great for DCs, I got all DD's school skirts there, some lovely wooly jumpers and jeans for DS. Lots of the stuff they have is actually new still with tags, or looks new.

Sputnik · 16/01/2009 21:40

I usually get amazon stuff about 8 days afer ordering.

francagoestohollywood · 16/01/2009 21:49

Oh gosh no, I wouldn't dare driving in Rome! (mind you, I haven't driven in yrs )
Yes, second hand clothes are very good, esp for babies (I noticed that at some stage, when they start to play per terra, trousers get ruined easily).
I wonder if shopping on the internet will get more common here in Italy, I understand that it's pretty much in its infancy.
Right, off to bed, but I'm itching to browse on the topshop website for 5 mins!

Speaking of online shopping, did you all know La Redoute now have an Italian site?

PippiCalzelunghe · 17/01/2009 08:55

sputnik the primigi shop is in perugia itself. not in the centre but just out of the superstrada. If you ever need/want to go I'll give you direction. there're lots of shop for kids there, like iana and kickers outlet so you could do quite a lot.

love those boots too...

Rosa · 17/01/2009 08:56

I found that site when going off Vertbaudet I think but I only looked at sale stuff. I am good at buying for the dds online but pretty bad for me unless I know its a style that will suit me.
I went to the secondhand shop when looking for dd cardigans and found 2 - but things were easily found . Mind you there was some real rubbish there as well - stuff that wouldn't last a couple of washes . I have already made a newborn bundle to sell I said I would keep 1 babygro for each dd ....In truth I think I have kept about 4 I just can't part with them yet ... I know it will get worse!

francagoestohollywood · 17/01/2009 10:00

Oh rosa, I so understand. I've passed some of the dc's clothes to two different friends (one is in the uk, so i can't do it anymore ), but I still have BOXES full of clothes (stored at my mum's). I can't get rid of them. I also fervently hope that at some stage one of my sil gets pg so that I can pass the boxes over. I so want to be an aunt!!!

I'm making a chocolate cake for dd's best friend birthday party today. Should check on it.

I bought a sofa cover from la redoute in the UK. It was nice, but too small
