Anyone got Solar Garden Lights, do they work?

I keep seeing these solar garden lights advertised in various mags. I'd like to get some but they're not cheap. Does anyone have them, if so are they any good and if so please let me have the make of them etc.

Hey, good question, I just FINALLY bought a couple, sent off for them by post. I think they were twenty something pound for 2, they're in all the magazines. They're called moonlight markers. Yes they do work, in a fashion! I put them near the herb garden so I could find my pieces of mint when needed - but they produce an orange glow, not enough to see by, but I suppose that's why they called them 'markers'. Kind of dots in the night to follow a path or something. You can see them from a distance, but they don't actually lighten the surrounding area.

I would like to know if the more expensive ones are proper lights!

They do work... to a point. As Lil wrote, they produce a light, which is good for marking paths and things like that. But I've yet to see a solar light that provides enough illumination to use to light a patio for example.
So, it depends what you want the light to do... if it's to mark a garden path, then they are great, as you don't have to remember to turn them on before leaving home!

They only work if you have enough sunlight to charge up the solar panel.
You have to live in Australia or the middle east.

Grandmamma, I bought one and it does work in rainy old England. It only glows though but it looks quite nice. I need about a 100 to make an impact!
