children are 14,9, and 6. 14 yo would like a ps3. They are so expensive but are they good? ok for little ones? The package i have seen has fifa (14 yo would love) and big little planet. There doesn't seem many games for younger ones?
They have a wii.

we have one but use it more to watch blu ray films on and dh plays games on it dsd and dss who are 17 and 14 much prefer the wii. Its cheaper and better choice of games. There seems to be no fun lighthearted games for the ps3 they are complicated. Definately seems aimed at older audience.
Hope this helps

To be honest I would get a PS2 rather than a PS3.

There are way more games available, plenty for younger kids too. And best of all they are dirt cheap in comparison - ToysRUs are selling them for less than £50 at the moment.

Hi, the toys r us ps2 have gone, but currys have them on offer. Still deliberating. I've just found out that the ps3 won't play ps2 games either! How mad is that!

That's why I recommended a PS2

My boys have a PS2 and a load of old games that they still play. I refused to upgrade to a PS3 because they would want all those games replacing in the new format.

The words 'Rip' and 'Off' spring to mind .

ds has a ps2, and now has a ps3. He loves it (he's 13) and has been told that he won't be getting duplicate games. He has 4 games, which he plays over and over, and will have to use pocket money to buy more.

He still plays on the ps2 as well.

DS would like a PS3 but no way. We have a PS2 and he has loads of games for it. I tell him he may get a PS4! I figure our PS2 may be coming to the end of it's life then.

The thing that puts me off if the fact that the PS2 games don't play on the PS3. Will not no way no how be buying one because of that. It is a rip off.

bought the 9 & 6 year olds a ps2 between them from currys - £68 with monster rumble, great deal. Told 14 yo sorry too expensive when cant use the ps2 games.
