Just a quick one .

I currently have 'microsoft XP (home)' on my pc. If I run an 'office pro 2003' installation disc, what will happen to my current documents/files/pics?

Do you have Office already installed?

BadgerBadger · 19/03/2005 11:48

Hi HM, no I haven't, it's just XP home edition AFAIK.

Do you have any Word or Excel documents?

(What programs does your Office Pro have on it? Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, etc?)

It should be fine - documents created by Office XP should be backwards compatible, though you may lose some functionality, and documents created by Office packages dated before 2003 will be fine to open.

BadgerBadger · 19/03/2005 11:59

Thanks hunkermunker! Sounds as though it should be ok then. The office pro has all you mentioned (Yay!).
Thanks!

Has it worked? Are you the proud owner of an Office package?

BadgerBadger · 19/03/2005 12:41

I haven't taken the plunge yet, I'll do it later (DH keeps mentioning the garden - I'd momentarily forgotten we have one ).

Looking forward to it though! XP home has to have been the most basic system I've ever encountered.

It's not an operating system - you'll still have XP Home.

BadgerBadger · 19/03/2005 21:27

Damn!

Right, just to clarify! I will have XP home and it's components as a base and office pro is an 'add on' to what I have already?

Sorry for the relentless questions!
