Having our bedroom completely gutted and having laminate flooring and pine furniture. Just having a real dilemma on what colour to have on the walls and for curtains. I want one thats going to look both warm in the winter and nice in the summer too. Any suggestions. not cream though as when we moved in we had cream everywhere.

How about a deepish Lilac colour? Supposed to be very relaxing in a bedroom as well?

oooh, we just did our bedroom and i really really love the colour - dulux lilac love! it feels so calm and tranquil in there - warm yet refreshing also. (i'm sounding a bit like an advert now - i'd better shut up)

Breeze - I know you said you don't want cream, but I saw a lovely room with cream walls and diffent natural colours of curtains, accessories etc. Such as stone, beige, olive greens... that sort of thing. It sounds naff, but it looked amazing!! They had bamboo blinds and a brown leather head board and the pictures on the walls had driftwood effect frames! I'm going to stop now, coz it really sounds awful, but take my word for it... it was gorgeous!!

Oh I wish we were doing up our room - lilac would also be my colour of choice. You could perhaps have darker curtains to warm it up a bit too?? Ooh and some nice furry fluffy cushions to make it feel really warm... I am in designer heaven now!

Breeze, have you tried the dulux site? It's got a really natty feature called the 'Mouse Painter' that lets you paint a virtual room and experiment with different colours.

Breeze I like MumtoTobys suggestion,I was going to say different shades of beige, natural is really in at the moment and very relaxing.Imagine a sea theme if you are having a lot of nice light wood.Perhaps some yellow walls or mushroom colour walls with different shade of browny grey skirting boards.I would love to do my bedroom up.Wood blinds would go with it intead of curtains.I'm torn between flowery wallpaper which I always think is lovely in a bedroom or natural beigey colour theme.Look in mags too to see what you fancy and have fun.

We have just done ours and went for a sort of greyish lilac (Dulux Desire) - just played with their mousepainter - it's good isn't it!! We also have a neutral floor (not wood though) and pine furniture and the lilac looks great - I have white accessories (curtains/bedside lampshades/bedding) and dull silver lamp bases, curtain pole, hold backs and coasters - really pleased with it. I had a nightmare finding plain white curtains so eventually lined plain white voile with white sheeting - they look fab.

dulux do a georgian range and the colours are quite subtle, ie your partner wont find lilac too girly, we did our room in georgian 4 and its a great colour, not too bright and faded looking so the rrom has charm.

I'm planning to use the colors gold, yellow, burgundy, brown with maybe a touch of forest green in my bedroom. Were getting ready to remodel. Right now we have dark purple which I think I've had enough of. Pretty though.

We did ours a gorgeous colour called Japanese Cherry (or somesuch) - Dulux again, I think. It's quite a dark pinky colour but if your other stuff in there is wood, it will lift it. Carpet is biscuit coloured, furniture is mexican pine and windows have wooden blinds and beige/gold voiles. I absolutely love it. Cosy when cold and bright when the sun's out.

Wow didn't realise we had so many Carol Smillie's amongst us. So many great idea's here. We are looking tomorrow. Thanks you lot
