a Maths question for you...Does MODE have to be expressed as a NUMBER?

ok... if a class carried out a survey on favourite colours and found that blue was the most popular (with 16 people selecting blue as their fave colour)... would the mode be 16 or blue???

I would say 'Blue' is the mode TBH but I'm poop at maths

The mode would be "blue" - it's the most popular answer. The fact that 16 people chose it isn't the relevant part - if you'd asked more people then it might have had 160 votes, but still been the most popular.

thanks, the thing that confused me is that mode is usually defined as 'most frequently ocurring NUMBER'(as opposed to 'value'/ piece of info)
