Found a lovely toddler shoe

DS2 was playing out tonight and found a small shoe in the park. It's light brown suede, sort of moccasin stitching, solid sole, lined in soft leather, no brand or size markings, and hardly worn - but was very wet.

No idea of value but probably more than your average Clarks. Local paper comes out on Thursday, deadline Tuesday, thought I would ring tomorrow and ask them to put an ad in - it is such a nice shoe! - any other suggestions?

Put a poster up in the park?. I thought ds had lost his shoe the other day but he had managed to get it off in his pram and it was lying in the footmuff - I was so relieved as toddler shoes cost a fortune. Hopefully it will be claimed.

Thanks, Fimbo - DS2 thought it might be a good idea to put a notice up in the park. Prob better than leaving the shoe hanging off a gate or fence!

I'd bin it. You don't know how it got wet, could be dog wee.

Shoes cost a lot of money......I would be well pleased if dd lost one and somebody lovely found it.........a poster is a good idea.

I'd be grateful if someone handed it in but I'd bin it cos I wouldn't know what germs had got onto it. I certainly wouldn't be able to put it back on my child.

Whilst I agree with the others, think I would still try to find the owner and then leave it for them to decide.

True lockets but how often does dog do get inside the shoe if your child is wearing it or it's in the house?

JanH, you ARE kind . I'd love to have the option of getting a shoe of sentimental/financial value cleaned up and it sounds like this one could be half of a £35 plus pair.

Have rung local paper and they said they'd put a bit in. It just occurred to me though that maybe I should hand it in to the police station - or is that going a bit far for a shoe?

I wd say local paper/park more likely to be seen by parent than whatever the police do with lost things. I have to say if I lost ds's shoe I would ask around local parents rather than ring police... just imagining the conversation I would have with policeman on the desk...

you are v kind janh, I have lost ds's shoes in the past and it just makes me weep because it's like chucking out a twenty pound note.
