i told ours we can't afford it.
we can't.

ClaireDeLoon · 11/11/2008 19:37

I did, he used to post my bill through the door and I would post a cheque to him and I put a note in saying I didn't want them cleaned anymore.

Do you need to do it face to face?

Goober · 11/11/2008 19:38

I have sacked 2 of them.

The first was never on time, so told him I needed to find somebody more reliable.

The second didn't clean properly when I was out. I phoned and asked him one day to re-do my bathroom window. The next day he phoned to say he'd done it and I could see he hadn't as the same bird poo was still on it, so told him I could do them better myself.

So I do!

J2O · 11/11/2008 19:39

um yeah, i don't have no paperwork for him, i see him out and about, but i kind of find him a little creepy, and really hate speaking to him, may try and get my bf to do it when he's due to do windows next time {wimp emoticom}

yes, i have..just told him i wanted to cancel...he was rubbish.

my new one is very cute..

themoon66 · 11/11/2008 19:44

I made DH tell him.

He used to come knocking for his money in the evening, telling us he had been round cleaning that very morning. there were cobwebs all over the windows - old one with the same old flies stuck in them. When I pointed them out he said 'oh I don't do cobwebs'.

J2O · 11/11/2008 19:45

grrr I want a cute one!
he really is creepy, he tried looking in my house in the summer and i had the door open, and he's always telling me to cheer up grr

CaptainKarvol · 11/11/2008 19:46

Told mine I wanted to cancel when he came round for his money and I KNEW he hadn't done the windows at the back (4 out of the 7 on the house!) 'cos we were in a mid terrace and the back garden gate was locked. Gave him the money (wimp) and just said we won't be needing you any more.

Dragonbutter · 11/11/2008 19:46

it's not really sacking though is it, they are self employed. you just want to stop being a customer, so tell him.

J2O · 11/11/2008 19:47

themoon-he doesen't do cobwebs? lmao

I wonder if anyone on here is a window cleaner, or husband is a window cleaner?
I'd love to know how it works, how they get paid, how mnay windows they clean and never get paid etc

firsttimemama · 11/11/2008 19:52

Well I'm on mat leave now so may tell him that I can do them myself, but in truth I'm not pleased with the service. My old window cleaner used to clean the window ledges too - this one doesn't touch them - they are a little cheaper ie same price but more windows in new house. Do your window cleaners do the ledges?

J2O · 11/11/2008 19:58

don't think mine does, don't think he even does the windows tbh. Ok, will tell him i no longer require his services next time he knocks for his money.

I called and sacked mine - just said I didn't need them doing anymore
He had just started doing it and charged me £5 for the front, next time he came I was out so he charged my cleaner £6

fanjolina · 11/11/2008 20:01

We just told him that we didn't want to come round any more. He got a right huff!

BBBee · 11/11/2008 20:02

no i have not 'sacked' my window cleaner - i am a happily married woman.

J2O · 11/11/2008 20:03

thats what i'm worried about fanjo

lol BBBee

Just told him we were getting some major work done (true) and would let him know when we wanted them done again...

NorbertDentressangle · 11/11/2008 20:06

I wish we had a window cleaner to sack.

We had what must be the laziest window-cleaner ever -despite begging him to clean our windows regularly he only ever came once. He did the same to all our neighbours too.

He only seemed to work mornings as his van was outside his house from lunchtime onwards every day.

daftpunk · 11/11/2008 20:07

that's why i cancelled my first one..he wouldn't clean the ledges..even when i asked him..he said "oh they don't really need it"...well sorry matey..i know what my windows need..and it ain't you!...i have a wonderful man now...cleans my ledges beautifully..twice aswell..
