calling all ebayers!!

Ok i've decided the best way i can try and earn some extra cash is to sell on ebay.

Me and my friend are planning on shopping at bootfairs, and seeing if we can make some money reselling on ebay.

I'm going to study ebay for a few nights and see whats popular.

I know the collectable sort of stuff such as boxed toys - playmobil etc

What tips do you experts have for me? What is there a demand for?

I think people like buying clothes and I would say you would make a good profit if you are buying from bootsales-especially as the new season of booot fairs is coming soon and everyone will be spring cleaning-Ive got shed loads of stuff to do a bsale with(if i ever get the time!!)
Also,as I said on other thread on ebay lots of gullible people will pay for the freebies you get with 2 or more purchases of designer make up/face care etc-worth a go!
(I didnt mean to exploit said gullable people-I think most people know they are what they are but you still pay less than buying full price in shops)

CD albumns sell well so do DVD's and womens clothing. Womens jeans sell well and anything 'next' seems to do well.

Make sure you charge enough postage to cover it, and a good clear picture always help sell an item.

Reusable nappies seem to go for very high prices from what I've seen.Also Next childrens clothing.Good luck-I am thinking of doing the same thing once the new baby is here-daren't sell dd's clothes before then in case the baby is another dd!

I have bought loads of Next baby clothes from bootsales at 50p an item or less.

text books sell well if they are fairly recent ones. and baby stuff such as nappy stackers etc

Lego can do very well, especially huge lots. There is enormous demand for some unexpected Lego sets. One of my friends sold a Bionicle on eBay that turned out to be one of the original sets issued and she got over £100 for it . Some Sylvanian Families sets go for loads too, especially if they're sets that aren't available in a current form. Disney videos/DVDs that aren't currently in the shops frequently go for over a tenner. Good luck

I'm excited about this, cos i love rumaging round boot fairs, this way i can get my shopping treat, but i'll be earning money (hopefully) instead of spending it!!

Monsoon stuff sells like hot cakes. I bought a Monsoon skirt from a charity shop for £2 last year but went off it. Put it on ebay and got £28 for it! I would like to be able to say that I have enough generosity of spririt to share my profits with the charity shop (in fact I think I did once pretend on here that I did), but I didn't.
For some reason my Dad's old Biggles books made a fortune a couple of months back, so perhaps look for something like that?

I bought some fabric off cuts from a bootsale last year for 50p each, put 3 on Ebay and they sold for £51. They were Designers Guild though but still only big enough to make a cushion cover.

Rather than buying to sell why not have a really good clear out of everything you've got at home lying about first. You can get people to pick up large items.

Try and avoid buying anything second hand that may not work. If buying clothes second hand really check them all over, I have been caught out so many times taking things home with a button missing or a hole in.

Gosh,youre up early!I take it you like shopping second hand?? I caught the bug when I was about twelve and did two years of voluntary work in local red cross shop on Saturdays-back then you could have the pick of what came in and my family were really broke so could get nice clothes for us. Then about five years ago spotted a lovely Loui Vuitton handbag with original print and snapped it up for a fiver(could probably sell on ebay for at least eighty now!!)

Don't worry secondhandrose, i'll be getting rid of all the junk around my house also.

I am a big worried about clothes, i think i'll only buy designer labels/vintage or sturdy items such as coats etc

baby stuff seems to sell well as does disconinued ranges such as mamas and papas stuff.

Discontinued Denby crockery sells well too, people will pay well for plates and missing bits to dinner services
