My friend has a lovely christmas tradition with her daughters, she gets them to wright a letter to Father Christmas, then attaches it to haelium filled silver baloons with sparkly silver ribbon then the go out in to the street on christmas eve and release them in to the air. I thought this is lovely.
It made me realise how magical you can make it for children. I don't have any traditions when it comes to christmas, we all pile down to MIL's to open pressises and have lunch. It is very chaotic, but nice to be all together.
I'd really like this year to spend christmas at home with my husband and daughter and then go down to see MIL at about 5pm. We've spent the last 10 years going down to MIL's for christmas, and I'd like to alternate it now we have a family of our own. I'd be really greatful for any ideas you have of how to make it a lovely experience for our daughter, not one that's just about a huge mass of presents.
Also, what were your most special childhood memories of christmas ?
