My daughter is due new shoes soon, she's nearly outgrown her navy start-rites.
I wondered wether to go for navy again or go for black patent? with christmas comming I think black patent would be lovely, but she has several outfits she wears with navy tights, so obveously navy shoes would look better but with navy shoes she can't wear her grey tights, to match her grey and dark pink dress. So what would look worse, navy tights with black patent shoes or grey with navy shoes?
I know how triveal this sounds but would like your oppinions. I love to see her looking lovely.

These are the ones I'd have in black patent.

I would go for the navy every time.

There is just somehting a bit about black patent.

Patent are lovely as Party Shoes, but if they are going to be her everyday wear pair, the navy it much chicer.

You could always get the navy for every day, and then get a patent pair of cheapies for a dressing up from Next/M&S/Mothercare

mummyloveslucy · 06/11/2008 14:08

The navy do polish up like new, whereas the patent look awful when scuffed and you can't repare them.
I can't buy some cheep patent ones unfortunatly, as she's a G width with a high instep, so it's really hard.
I saw some nice ones in M&S once but she needed 2 sizes bigger to get the width. I didn't buy them as she'd be tripping over.
I'd like her to have brown boots too, but it's so expencive replacing them every 2-3 months.

Tell me about it, just spend £75 on DD for some brown leather boots.

Was nearly sick, but like your DD she's a G width with a high instep, and I just couldn't find any others that fitted. In fact, the lady in the shop suggested we go up a size, so that they will fit her until the end of the winter -hopefully- so is equivalent of buying one Clarks pair now, and another in February, I suppose.

Had to lie to DH about how much they were though!

FimboGotAxed · 06/11/2008 14:17

Are you anywhere near Norwich?

mummyloveslucy · 06/11/2008 14:25

That would be good if they could go up a size, to get more ware out of them.
I lie about the cost of clothes/shoes too. I get mine from Primark and my daughter has the very best. I find it hard to find nice traditional clothes for her as she is very tall for her age. I still want her to look like a 3 year old, not a teenager. It's a nightmare.

Hello - are you near Norwich? The start-rite factory shop is there and you would probably be able to get 2 pairs for the price of 1.

mummyloveslucy · 06/11/2008 14:26

No, we don't live anyware neer Norwich. Is there an outlet there?
I wish we did have one neer us.

Oops x post!

mummyloveslucy · 06/11/2008 14:28

Sorry crossed threads.

I wish we did, I'd save a fortune.

It might be worth a trip up and buying every pair in a G from now untill she's 10.

LynetteScavo- what's about black patent? What message does it give out? I don't have a clue.
Is it a bit camp or does it look spoiled and la de da? I'm interested.

I think black patent are OK with party dresses - but look horrid with trousers.

Just my personal taste.

Even with a party dress, I prefer non- patent startrite mary janes.

I don't think you can go wrong with a classic navy shoe for children.

mummyloveslucy · 06/11/2008 18:28

Yes, I suppose they would look a bit odd with trousesrs, I didn't really think of that.
I think I'll go for the navy then, it's a good all rounder.
