Wonder if you wise lot can help me, my Ds starts school Sept 2004, when he goes full time, I am very interesting in working in a pre-school. Just wondered what kind of qualification I need, and if I can get them on the job or need to do something beforehand. I have helped out a few times and really enjoy being with the children (probably because we have the same mental age). Thanks

A friend of mine got a job in a pre-school without any formal childcare qualifications. She heard about the job through her dd being there - it seems quite a lot of these vacancies are word of mouth, rather that actually being advertised. They offered to let her train one day a week at the local college, although she didn't actually do it. I think I am right in saying that not all those who work in pre-schools have to be qualified, just as long as a certain percentage are.
