I know this has been mentioned before on other threads, but I really felt I had to comments on some of the scenes in Coronation Street just now, including the little girl who plays Bethany. Some of the situations were really horrible, with people shouting and screaming, and some one spitting in Gails face, infront of her. I think it is really wrong, as she would have no idea it was all acting and could have been terrified. Anyway, moan over!!

Nutjob, I do sometimes feel the same way as you, but they are very clever with the camera work, and that chances are that bethany wasn't there when that happened.

I think I am also right (but might be wrong), but all outside work is mimed and the sound is added in later.

Yip cringed at the spitting bit too, esp as DS (3) was still up and thought to self - he will prob do this in nursery now!

I didn't see it as I gave up Cori a few years ago, however, the mum/carer of any child used in tv is very often less than a foot away from her child. Often they will be where the childs eyeline is looking, so they do a shot of the baby/child looking at say Gail(but often its the real mum), then shoot it with Gail in afterwards. Outside scenes are usually miked though.
The thing that I hate is any screaming and shouting scenes, no matter if the mother or carer is there, its horrible being around and surely must feel real to the child/baby.

jessi, I gave up Corrie a few years ago too but happened to catch the beginning of the omnibus on Sunday and was hooked - it was great!

Who spat though? It wasn't Ashley, was it? I must have missed that.

On the subject of kids used in TV, does anybody on here know how they were able in ER to get the child who plays Benson/Benton's son (sorry, can never remember, I get mixed up with Soap!) to act the way he does? And how Benson/Benton was so good with him and seemed to really communicate with him? I mean he is really deaf, isn't he? I always found it really impressive and moving to watch.
