I need to know what this says:

Noh moika! Mitä sinä kuuluu? Kaikki on hyvin täällä, elämä on loistava, mä kirjoitan sähköposti sinulle kohta, sanot terveisin Gusille!

Thank you if you can help!

I found a site that does it free, but I'm sure you have already tried that...it makes little or no sense!

Noh moika! What thou read? Everybody is much here , existence is magnificent mä essay e-mail thee entry , speak compliment Gusille!

phdlife · 23/10/2008 10:49

I think that is a perfectly beeyootiful message, marmaduke. Lord knows it sounds like plenty of the others I find in my inbox!

MarmadukeScarletbloodstains · 23/10/2008 10:56

The 'speak compliment' is an odd translation but probable quite usual.

In Hungarian there is a greeting which is a respectful 'I kiss your hand' in direct translation saved generally for hotties - I used to like getting that one when I was a little younger

PortAndDemon · 23/10/2008 11:06

Google translation gives

Well moika! What do you belong? All is well here, life is wonderful, I write an e-mail you a point, you say sincerely, Gusille!

PortAndDemon · 23/10/2008 11:10

Based on all of these, I'd guess at a translation of

Hey moika [guessing moika is either a name or Finnish slang for "mucker" or "mate]! How are you? Everything's fine here and life is good. I'll email you soon, best wishes, Gusille

PortAndDemon · 23/10/2008 11:11

[Disclaimer: I can say "chicken head" and "book" in Finnish. So all I can say with certainty is that the passage you posted is not about chicken heads or books]

MarmadukeScarletbloodstains · 23/10/2008 11:14

You're better than me I can only say 'Bob The Builder'

BroccoliSpearedThroughTheHead · 23/10/2008 11:29

Lol - yes the online translater wasn't hugely helpful was it.

Disclaimer: This sentence was written by a very drunk English guy who only learned Finnish a few years ago.

Now I want to amaze him by replying in perfect Finnish .

if you can wait for maybe a day i can find out for you as i have a finnish friend ,but he will be at work now.i can send it to him if you like.

PortAndDemon · 23/10/2008 11:32

Do you want to say that you read in a book that Bob the Builder has the head of a chicken? If so, then we can help!

If not, I've found Google Translate generally the best auto-translation thingy.

Or we can just keep this bumped until someone finnish-speaking sees it...

PortAndDemon · 23/10/2008 11:33

Or MTQOD's friend, who sounds like a good bet.

MummyTheQueenOfDarkness · 23/10/2008 11:34

i have copied and pasted it and its now on the way to Finland !

flowerybeanbag · 23/10/2008 11:36

I don't know any Finnish, but must just share that I bought a book called 'Beginners Finnish' for my Dad... Tickled my sense of humour anyway!

Carameli · 23/10/2008 16:15

I lived there for a little bit and this is what I think most of it says:

Noh moika!(Hi)moika is a slang way of saying hi.

Mitä sinä kuuluu? (How are you?)

Kaikki on hyvin täällä, elämä on loistava, (everyone is well here, life is great)

mä kirjoitan sähköposti sinulle kohta,(I'll send you an email soon) not completely sure of tense in this bit?

sanot terveisin Gusille!(regards to Gus)

MarmadukeScarletbloodstains · 23/10/2008 17:10

LOL @ Bob having the head of a chicken!

BroccoliSpearedThroughTheHead · 23/10/2008 17:11

Aren't you all fab! Thank you MTQOD and Carameli.

Now I need a perfect translation for something along the lines of "Why are you writing to me in Finnish when you know I don't speak a word?"

Lol @ beginners finnish!

MummyTheQueenOfDarkness · 23/10/2008 21:01

"Hello! How are you? Everything is fine here, life is great, I write an email soon to you, tell my greetings to Gus!"

he added in his email to me that he dosent think it was written by a Finnish person !

BroccoliSpearedThroughTheHead · 24/10/2008 13:56

Thank you MTQOD. Indeed he isn't Finnish. I think I'll reply in Swahili.

drowninginlaundry is from Finland, she could help you with perfect Finnish if you can track her down.

tribpot · 24/10/2008 19:47

My translator says:

Well hi there! How are you doing? Everything is fine here, life is excellent, I'll write you an email soon, say hi to Gus.

Noh moika! Mitä sinä kuuluu? Kaikki on hyvin täällä, elämä on loistava, mä kirjoitan sähköposti sinulle kohta, sanot terveisin Gusille
